I’ll be dining there tomorrow afternoon. Any must haves? Anything to stay away from? Reviews?

I think they make the best old fashioned in town... at least out of the ones I’ve tried

Went to the one in Monroe a few months back and really enjoyed it. Got the tamales with chili to start then split the 2 lb bone-in ribeye with a buddy. Came with two sides, so we got the loaded potatoes au gratin and fries. It was all delicious, I recommend everything we got. Hopefully you have a good experience as well.

Never had a bad meal there. Tamales are a definite. Porterhouse like the other guys said definitely. Any drink from the bar is good. If they still do the eclair cake it’s pretty damn good.

They seem to be running well. Always had good meals there.

I think the fried shrimp is my favorite app they serve.

My go-to is the Porterhouse with the sauteed mushrooms and whatever they want to bring me as a side with the steak because I'm going to ignore it while I devour my steak.

And a salad with bleu cheese dressing.

Also, check the chalk board at the host station when you walk in. If they have anything special off-menu that they got from the butcher that day, it'll be on that chalk board along with how many of them they have left.

The porterhouse is the way to go. For my money, that's the best steak in town. I love those drop biscuits too. They're great for sopping up the dressing on their salads.

Is a hell of a restaurant imo. We usually get the 2lb Porterhouse, and I give the bride the filet off of it. Sometimes we split the 2 lb ribeye. Fried and bbq shrimp, bleu cheese wedge and au grating potatoes. Double fist red wine and bourbon. Lawd

The one time I went, the steak was outstanding and the bartender bragged on their clear margarita. Those were some of these best margaritas my wife and i ever had. When they brought out the drinks, they looked like two tall glasses of ice water.

Filet. Are you going to the "real" Doe's (Greenville) or one of the franchises?

I concur with the other posters:

The one in Monroe is on point - everything is damn good and it is a treat to get to eat there

Wife and I went on a Tuesday night. 45 min wait. So we opted to head over to Warehouse.
So yeah, they're doing pretty well.

NELA has always loved Doe’s. Folks would drive midweek to the original location in Greenville 30 years ago.

These guys run a good show. It gets strong support.
