I see there's a website you can order the book but apparently it's not in use

Man, I would still love that book, even if the recipes are basic.

When I graduated from LSU, I took my family to the Silver Moon on Chimes. Mama was there, and sat down and talked with us after we ate.

One of the best meals I've ever had, not just because of the food (which was delicious), but because my parents, my sister, and myself were all genuinely happy and enjoying the experience of the day.

Check on Amazon and sometimes you can get the book for cheap.

"I hope y'all are hungry cuz mama's ready to feed you"

No, but there's a recipe for smothered pork chops which is likely similar.

I never ate there, but I have the cookbook.

Man I used to enjoy going to Silver Moon when it was in the old house on Nicholson.

My SIL gave me the cook book for Christmas a few years back but TBH I've never made any of the recipes from it.

Seabell Thomas is still in Baton Rouge, and caters. She even feeds people at her house on occasion when there is enough interest. She is always catering during Mardis Gras and holiday seasons for folks who want that taste from the old days..

Looks like the EBR Parish library has one at the Scotlandville Branch that can be checked out. Main branch has one on reference only.

If you live elsewhere, check with your local library and see if they can borrow it from EBR. My librarian can get me stuff from all over the country.

Scan or copy any recipes you like.
