Pizza is unequivocally my absolute favorite food. Do I prefer top-tier pies baked in ancient seasoned ovens? Yes. However, I enjoy pizzas of all types for what they are, and even commercialized stuff such as Dominos and the Hut have a valuable role in the hierarchy.

I was thinking of this when this thread popped up:

1981 Stouffers French Bread Pizza Commercial

You use to flip the box inside out to use the faux metal to crisp it up in the microwave.

That's nothing. There was once a little pizza that you could heat up in the toaster:

there's nothing like a well-hydrated pizza.

Third one had a train in it. I'm pretty sure I saw all that needed to be seen.

In Portland I went to this place called Pizza Scholls.

Was it the best quality and tasting pizza I have ever had? Yes. But it was also somewhere around 30 bucks. If I wasn't using my company card I probably wouldn't have thrown down the money for it.

Value has to matter.

There is a place called Napoli in Las Vegas that has good NY style pizza for $8 carry out for a 16 incher. Now that is value. I actually went there right after taking the pic in my avatar

Need some sort of official documentation that you are qualified to pass judgment on what people should think.

You sound nothing at all like my mom.

As they say, pizza is like sex. When it's good, it's great. And when it's bad, it's still pretty good.

I'd rather have great. (Even it costs more and I have to work harder to get it.)

If I eat pizza, it's almost always going to be the good stuff. That said, even when pizza is bad, it's still pretty good.

I have turned my son into a pizza snob. I confess I have worked hard to perfect my pizza crust. No wood fired oven, but I do bake them at 550 on a heavy steel. Get a nice char and pizza is done in 4 minutes. The other day at the last minute my wife suggested pizza and we picked up Trader Joe's crust. My son normally eats an entire pizza. He only ate two pieces - said the crust was crap. I agree with him.

That said I occasionally enjoy a Pizza Hut deep dish.
