Do you ever use cold weather for refrigeration outside?

I'm gonna brine a turkey tonight. It's way too big for a container in the fridge. So, I'm gonna put it in an ice chest and then stick the ice chest outside tonight because the low will be 28 and the morning temp around 32.
No need to stack it in ice or change the water.

As much as I can. Certainly did it with the Turkey thanksgiving eve. Leave beer out there in ice chests and had an ice chest full of deer sausage stay frozen during thanksgiving week.
Open the windows and doors for inside refrigeration too.

only when skiing, and it has to come in after dark or the critters will get it.

All the time. Well, not in the summer but you know what I mean. I made a chicken stock out of a leftover carcass last night and stuck it on the bakers rack outside. Pretty convenient.

The hell you say? I thought I was the only guy with a bakers rack outside. Lucy brought it into the marriage 17 years ago and I use it to stack fire wood.

It took me a few years of marriage to realize wtf my wife was referring too when she talked about a bakers rack.

I've never done it at home, but the cold weather is nice for when I go out to dinner. I hate not getting to-go boxes (or stopping at home before going out) because we don't want the car to smell.
When it's cold like it's been, it's no biggie to leave the food in the car.

Kinda hard down here. Yesterday I had on short sleeves today I got the heater on. I did leave a growler full of beer in my car overnight Saturday and it was still cold enough to drink the next morning.

Yes, is this going to be in a garage or just outside of the house?

I would make sure the water was good and cold before shutting it up in the ice chest.
I think I have about 7 bakers racks. Somehow I accumulated a lot of them.

Damn, I'd call that a new kind of fetish.

That many racks and you dislike baking.

Had 3 of them in my kitchen to hold some of the cookbooks that I keep in there. Will be putting them back in there, soon, I hope.
I love them. They're quite functional.

Well, that's the key term. I can't remember the old term "function follows fashion" or "Fashion follows function".
