Coming in town for the baseball game on Saturday, and looking for a new spot to try in Baton Rouge. I know wife would like something with good cocktails, but we are open to any food type.
Last two times in town we have eaten at Little Village and BLDG 5.

Jubans on Perkins at Acadian would be a suitable stop on the way to or from campus.

I'm sorry, you should have gone to DiGiulio Brothers.
Some of the better places in town are Elsie's Plate n Pie, Rep Zepplin Pizzeria, Unleaded BBQ (i haven't been but heard pretty good things so far), Blue Corn Modern Mexican, Juban's, and Louisiana Lagniappe.

Overpass Merchant always has great drinks and food.
Cheese curds are an absolute must have. Top 5 burger in the city. Buns are made in house too. Rest of the menu is great.

Olive or Twist is fun too. A little more laid back but still a nice place to go to. I like this burger too but they have good food options. Short Rib Eggrolls are incredible. They have a really large happy hour window. Happy hour is 11am - 7pm on Saturdays and includes $3 select craft beers and I believe $7/$8 cocktails. The bartenders are great there.

Never been to Elsie’s.
There you go then, get anything on the menu and strongly consider any special they may have.

How is Solera? I never hear about it. How’s the food?
Is it a nice casual or more dressy?

It's one of my favorites in BR. The portions were smaller the past few times I went, but the food is still really good.
I see it as an nice casual restaurant. Last few times I've worn khaki shorts and either a polo shirt or short sleeved button up.

Solera is very good. You can go dressy and not feel out of place at all. I wouldn't roll in there with a t-shirt.
The paella is definitely a dish to try. Chicken and chorizo ftw

As long as you don’t feel out of place in khakis/jeans and a polo, I’m good.

Casual.
It’s unique for BR, if you like Spanish food give it a try. It’s more of a tapas place though. Go with a group and share a bunch of stuff. The piaya is solid, croquettas, lamb meatballs and manchego stuffed peppers are favorites of ours.

Something easy and casual with good drinks is City Pork on Jefferson (there's one on Highland but I have been once). Same owners as City Slice on Chimes Street, which we like as well.

Downtown there are several good restaurants: Cecila, Cocha, The Gregory. I would probably recommend in that order.
There is also a great little bar that's half coffee bar half cocktail bar called "The Vintage". The bartender with the pony tail makes a badass lemon drop and old fashioned. Fresh ingredients and some flair too.
you could eat at one of the restaurants and walk to The Vintage for drinks after. (Cecilia is right across the street from it and I would ask for table 17)
Make reservations soon.
Tsunami also has a rooftop cocktail only area that has some great (for BR) views that is also walkable from those restaurants.
I also always recommend Umami for baseball fans looking for somewhere close to Alex Box. You won't find better or higher quality sushi in BR (in my opinion). They have some good drinks as well.
Lastly - can't get more original than Chow Yum Phat. Love their food.

Downvotes on here have led me to believe there’s no consensus good restaurant in BR.
