You can tell of he really likes it by how much he eats of it.

A friend of mine was in the banned Oceana episode. Said they did it as part of extras tv casting and were coached on how to react. That episode was banned and can never be shown and it's totally been scrubbed from the internet. But honestly rats in a French Quarter restaurant is common. Hannibal said it best.

I just watched online. The focus was on the crawfish cheesecake app and they chargrilled oysters, both of which looked good. It was a very short segment. Guy has lost a good bit of weight.

Yeah I watched it there this morning. For some reason I thought the whole episode was going to be in BR not just the first spot. So I tuned out after that.

I will say, the crawfish cheesecake looked damn good.

So did I, but the other 2 places are supposed to be on the next two Fridays.

Guess that's why they didn't have him walking over to the Mary Lee Donut shop in the front of the center. :)

Happy for Phil's to be featured.

I imagine restaurants probably pay to be on the show now and it’s more of a publicity thing as opposed to the show trying to pick and highlight good local restaurants.

I can confirm he went to Elsie's and filmed - that episode will air later.

That is not the list on non-chainers I would have made for him.

Dempseys? Really?

To be fair I’ve never been to iversteins.

I’d like to see oak and smoke on that list for a drive “in”. Chow yum would be a cool dive especially considering location.

I shamelessly love Iverstine's. I find everything they do is above average. Their chicken fried steak is really good. And the 5 dollar hamburgers on Wednesday are a great deal.

If you want to skip watching the shows this will give you the basic breakdown of the shows. They already have all 6 places posted - I think they also went to Couyons, but I haven't been able to confirm it. . Just click on the restaurant link.

DDD Locations

Edit: Elsie's airs May 2.

FWIW, I love Dempsey’s. One of my favorite chick n sausage gumbos in town and I lean toward thicker gumbos at home. Used to do cup and a half w French dip on the regular till I got too old to work it off. When I first moved to BR for grad school, we had a crew of guys that hit the chicken fried special on Wednesdays. Super glad this was featured. Kudos and hope they are busting at the seams w DDD chasers!

I think people who hate on Dempsey's don't realize that everything is made from scratch in house and have only been once or twice and have tried limited things on the menu. Some of the daily specials (chicken fried steak on Wednesdays, smothered chicken on Thursdays, etc.) are some of the best plate lunches you'll find in Baton Rouge. I'm a little biased, of course, but I eat out a lot for my job and the food is consistently good and the portion sizes are huge for the prices on the menu compared to a lot of other places in town.
