I don’t know, but I had a pint of that shite spill in my trunk and I’m fairly certain the smell will never leave. Ever.

Can confirm.

When I was young I thought that liquid boil would taste like the juice when you suck a crawfish head.
...so I decided to take a shot of straight liquid boil

Put a bag of natural chunk charcoal back there for a few weeks.

Then just dump a pound of coffee.

Wait a few weeks and vacuum it up.

Crawfish boil contains flavoring oils--rather than alcohol based extracts (like used for baking & other cooking). This means they "stick" and persist especially well on porous, absorbent surfaces. Can you remove and replace the carpet? That would help.

As to the actual flavors: bay, lemon, celery, clove, red pepper are the backbone of most blends.

I think the above poster was close. He mentioned Capsicum Oleoresin. The ingredients on LA boil liquid lists Paprika oleoresin.

The Wikipedia entry for Paprika oleoresin states:

quote:

...capsaicin, the main flavouring compound giving pungency in higher concentrations, ...

All I know is I can't stand to sit in line at the drive up stand that uses it. I much prefer to get my bugs from another stand here that doesn't assault my nasal membranes (they told me they don't use liquid boil).

Don't use liquid boil. You can taste it like you drinking it out the jug.

It’s oleoresin capsicum.

A similar ingredient is used in a form of mace - the one cleverly labeled as OC, and also referred to as pepper spray.

Can i use pepper spray on my crawfish to give it that extra "kick" i've been looking for?
