Love Cracker Barrel. Mainly because I don't have unrealistic expectations. It's very good at what it is.

I usually get fried catfish, mac-n-cheese, green beans, and carrots. And have always enjoyed it.

Agreed on breakfast. They serve it all day.

The few times I have tried their regular menu options it was just mediocre at best.

I feel the same. Breakfast is top notch (if you like a big southern breakfast) but the other food is just..meh. Not bad, but not great either.

The breakfast is worth it for the smoked breakfast sausage alone.

The one here in Kingwood is great. Service is fast and the food is hot.

I forget we have one as I always go to Humble city cafe. Mom loves it there and lives closer to Humble so I meet her and the nieces sometimes. Nothing wrong with a good Cracker Barrel though.

Whenever we travelled in the Southeast region when our kids were young, we always made it a point to stop at a Cracker Barrel somewhere along the interstate. Our kids really loved going to them, and mostly they beat the burger joints and other kinds of highway food by a mile. In those days.

A couple of years ago went with wife to Cracker Barrel, where we live in Bradenton, FL. Our order came - a simple breakfast. As we started eating one of us noticed broken glass in the plate. Called the waitress over, who seemed mystified by this unwanted presence. So I sent it back and asked to see the manager. He came over and was most apologetic, even comped the meal. Ok. Then they brought its replacement out. Believe it or not, there was also broken glass in this plate, too, mixed in with the side dish. I called the waitress over again - she seemed exasperated and I think must have thought we were running a scam. She actually said, "What do you want? The manager already comped your meal..." and then walked away.

At first we were stunned. Then we just got up and left.

Haven't gone to a Cracker Barrel here or anywhere since. Likely won't ever again.

Same. Their country fried steak is my go to for both Lunch/Dinner and Breakfast. CFS with mac-n-cheese and hash brown casserole for Lunch/Dinner, and the Country Fried Breakfast with scrambled eggs and whatever else came with it.

I haven't been in years since we moved from SE Ga to Atlanta. Back then, it was probably the best restaurant we had without having to drive to Jacksonville. Now that we are in Atlanta there's no real need or desire to go.

Yea its always been a road trip staple for us, unless I just get hit with a real hankering for some apple butter. I'll probably go to one about once a year. For what it is though, it is awesome.

The chicken & dumplings is money. Also Cracker Barrel is the most appropriately-named restaurant ever.

I love CB any time of day. It might not be what granny cooked but it is about as close as you can get at an interstate exit. I plan trips so I can be near one at breakfast time... LOL that's pathetic I know.

Never had a bad meal there, but never really had a great meal there. It's a last resort type place for me. I prefer Waffle House for breakfast and there's usually one real close by a CB, so I haven't been to one in years.

I do remember they will nickel and dime you to death if you ask for anything extra.

Sounds like you hit a poorly run CB and bad waitress.

I haven't been to one in some years, but I enjoy breakfast there. I don't think I've ever eaten anything other than breakfast, regardless of the time of day. I find CBs to be good pit stops on the road. My experience is that they are clean, have a large selection and the food is plenty acceptable. The rockers are nice. :)

Yeah, I've been plenty of times and CB tends to be the most consistent experience you can get at a chain restaurant, down to the stupid little golf tee game that I've memorized

I love the CB setting and we have gone twice a year for the past 5 for breakfast on a guys only fishing weekend. I was disappointed every time in the food. We started going to a local diner and it is much better.

I wanted it to be good and it just never was sorry to say. This was in Woodstock, VA.

The dearth of cracker-based dishes was disappointing.
