Cooking for people who hate onions

Does anyone have to deal with children or family members who are just repulsed by the sight or taste of onions? Do you have any tips to deal with it?
I love onions, and learning how to cook from my parents means chopping a yellow onion is my first step in just about any meal prep. But no matter how finely I mince them, or how much I say they have cooked down/disintegrated, I am met with cries of "I can still see them," or "The taste lingers."
I'm sure the great cooks on the food board can help with my problem. What do ya got?

Don't tell them you used onions until after they've said the dish was good.

Frick them is what I tell my wife and kids. Eat it or gtfo.
That’s how I was raised.

Friend,
Leeks are similar yet superior to onions in every conceivable way, which is why they cost more. Leeks are a more than acceptable substitute. An added bonus is that if a recipe calls for both celery and onion, using leeks covers both. All of my tri-partite recipes include leeks and bell peppers and omit the onions and celery.

They can make their own supper
As long as you're cooking them down fully and not using them in raw form you're doing all you need to.
I used to "not like onions" as a kid, but I never complained when they were in a dish and didn't have any crunch to them

My wife likes the taste but can’t handle the consistency
I usually put in food processor or use hand blender followed by long cooks

Just tell the kids theyll realize one day. When I was a kid I hated onions with a passion, then as I started cooking I started to love them

Children: tell them that’s the way a dish is made, but encourage them to try things repeatedly. If they don’t want standard supper, they can make their own peanut butter sandwich. Unless a serious allergy exists, no one should be catering to lil Jonnys dislike of the week. Kids’ tastes change—don’t let you or the kid get trapped by what a three year old rejected.
Adults: if this is a spouse/partner, you’re gonna have to figure it out. Compromise. For guests who are friends, make non oniony things if you are inviting them over. We value our friends, and we are hospitable to our guests...so we try to make them happy.

Oh god, this reminds me of the episode of Below Deck where the charter guest specifically said "No onions whatsoever". The chef makes the dishes anyways with onions. Charter guest complains, sends it back, gets something else with no onions. Next night for dinner.. dish with finely chopped onions. Charter guest loses his shite, blows up on chef and captain.
When the captain asked the chef why he used onions even though he was told repeatedly not to, he replies "I wanted the food to taste good"
Sorry but I have no answer. I can't imagine someone I lived with hating garlic or onions. Dealbreaker.

I say let them head to Burger King or Domino's if they bitch about the food you took your time and skill to cook for them.

You could always pulverize them in a food processor where they can see them.

I remember that episode, a few of the meals the guest had eaten a good portion of before even realizing it had onions in it then lost his mind

Put a whole peeled onion in the sauce , cook it and take the whole onion out before service

There arent many dishes that I cook that dont use onion. To me that is one of the most important foods in the world.

Try using onion powder. Start with a little and then increase if no one objects. Or just go with it and see what they say.
Onion is used in most things I cook.

I dont adjust anything I cook for my audience, if they dont like it they can find something else or be hungry.

Only onions I can’t eat are the McDonald’s onions. I don’t know why
Posted on 5/6/20 at 9:19 pm to leftovergumbo
I don’t cook for people like that.

Screw these people. It's just mental childish BS. In no way can they pick out specific onion flavor in a medley of flavors in a dish and say "I don't like this because there is onion in it".
Oh and I know one adult like this who "hates onions" but will eat onion rings
