Is there anything new that I can order for a family member. Would prefer Louisiana cooking, but if there is a southern cooking one that I can look up.

Appreciate the help.

"Talk About Good" in 2 volumes. Concentrates on La. dishes and is one of my favorite go-to cook books when I'm looking for something I haven't cooked before.

Very good responses above. I haven’t got it yet but Kelly Fields has a new book out called The Good Book of Southern Baking.

I like the John Folse's books. Even though I don't follow the recipes word for word, they all have a story and some education about the different areas of Louisiana cooking.

I have 3 of them:
After the Hunt
The Encyclopedia of Cajun and Creole Cuisine
Hooks, Lies, and Alibis

Friend,

Anything written by Tom Fitzmorris will be a gem. For Cajun, Paul Prudhomme is best. I avoid John Folse, John Besh, and Donald Link books.

I agree except for John Folse. The Encylopedia of Cajun and Creole Cooking is the GOAT for an all encompassing SoLa cookbook.

My staple was always "Talk About Good" cookbook that I got from my mom.

Recently got gifted a copy of Mosquito Supper Club, mentioned above, and it's a fantastic addition. Some great background on dishes and processes, and some authentic recipes in it.

Another vote for Paul Prudhomme here. His books are filled with good recipes and they use fairly common ingredients

Bitter divorce, men in the kitchen get the glory but women typically do the Cajun cooking, trans kid etc...etc...

Just get the feeling she would build a roux around my testicles and call it ettouffee.

But I just breezed the book so far. Might be wrong or might be worse. I’ll get back to it at some point. She’s an English lit major so it’s blousy. But what the hell...I ain’t looking to see her wiggles.
