Haven’t been to Commanders in 4/5 years and heading there tomorrow.
What are some can’t miss dishes for our group? 3 guys & 4 girls.
No pics.

Order what looks good to you on the menu or the special.

Turtle Soup. 25 cent martinis. The quail is pretty solid as well.

If you're going to be there for brunch on Saturday or Sunday, the menu changes with what's seasoning. For example, during crawfish season, there will likely be a dish in which crawfish are incorporated.
There are some staples on the menu like Shrimp Henican, which is one of my favorite apps, gumbo, turtle soup and a beef entree of some sort.
Read the menu and order what appeals to you. Don't fill up on the garlic bread, if possible. It's hard to resist eating like chips.

Did Sunday brunch there not too long ago and was quite disappointed. Every poached egg was horribly overcooked. Most of the dishes were just sort of a mess on a plate. Service seemed a bit spotty for what I expect there.
I will go back for dinner, but won't rush back for that. Never been a huge brunch guy anyway. It was an occasion type deal, though.
The roving jazz band is nice and the garden room was festive as always, but there was just a bit off on the whole experience.

I haven't been since about January, but my last two or three visits the food was the same butservice fell short. It's still better than other places, but slower service was noticeable. For example, we had to look around to flag someone to ask about drink refills. Definately a first world 5 star problem.
But I still love the place and I'll also be there for brunch tomorrow. Looking forward to it!

Had a Meh lunch there in April too. Cold food & meh service
I regret booking them for what was a celebratory occasion

Gosh, I hate to hear that. Makes me wonder if the chef and owners have their hands in too many pots at once.

It's always gone in waves. We can usually tell when things aren't running on all cyclinders. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen. I've been several times this year, at lunch, and no problems. We usually have the same captain; if not her, then a specific guy. And those two are typically extra attentive. I think it might have been visit before last I could tell they were taxed and things weren't 100% service-wise, but I don't remember any food issues lately.

There's usually a 3 course pork option for under $20 but I would pay more for the trout or drum option. You can't go wrong with shrimp and grits either. $.25 martini's and $3 tricentennial shots are a treat as well.

When the brunch menu is in effect on weekends there are no $.25 martinis.

Turtle soup
Whatever entree sounds good to you
Bread pudding soufflé
They also had some warm lemon-blueberry dessert a couple weeks ago that was incredible. If they still have it — get it. Here’s the description:
Ponchatoula Blueberry and Lemon Cookie Dough Cobbler — Half baked lemon cookie dough, fresh blueberries, Dixie crystal crust, Creole cream cheese and Steen’s cane syrup ice cream

Also, gnocchi:
I've only been once, so I don't have experience with much of their menu.
