Chivas Regal is absolute garbage.

For a scotch that is not cheap, it has the taste equivalent of K&B brand vodka.

Yeah we know. Dewars and JW are trash too. Blended scotches are just weak to me.

Dewars 12 isn’t that terrible. I just can’t stand blended scotches.
Blended malt scotches are interesting with Shackleton being a bit better than monkey shoulder.
If I’m buying a bottle, it’s going to be any single malt not named glenfiddich or glenlivet.

almost all "single malt" scotches are blended, they are just blends from the same distillery
and good blends are fine whiskys...chivas isnt one of them but a good multi-distillery blend can be world class stuff

Blends made from only malted barley in a pot still. It is a malt whiskey. Blended scotch is a blend of malt and grain whiskey.

i find a good blend to be a more enjoyable drinker, and many single-malts to be a waste of money. but clearly there are good and bad on both sides.
if you get the opportunity try the famous grouse "mellow gold" blend, its my current daily drinker

My 85yo grandmother drinks Chivas. It's all she keeps in the house unless there is a party.

Try John Barr. It’s consistently won taste tests head to head with dewars and Johnny red. And it’s cheaper.

If you want a blended Scotch, Dewar's is better and cheaper. That said, I'm kind of with TH03...single malt is where it's at.
