This turn makes his exit from Ruffinos even more interesting now. I am no huge fan of Ruffinos, but this seems to be a step backwards.

I’d expect this to be a positive move for the company. If so, it’s likely a good move for him, too, career wise.

I would agree with it being a positive for the restaurant, but I don't see it as a positive for his career. Unless they have plans down the road for Peter to have his own restaurant, I don't see how this is a step forward.

Among the planned changes to the menu at TJ Ribs, which has locations on South Acadian Thruway and Siegen Lane, will be a greater emphasis on fresh, local foods, including alligator and other south Louisiana seafood staples.

Focus on seafood at a ribs / sports bar? Why???

My point is that should his efforts increase their profits, he wins. Great track record for future endeavors.

They might be trying to pivot away from that theme, although the recent exterior renovations to the location on Acadian make it look even more like a shitty sports bar.

I wouldn't expect it to have anything to do with the restaurants in the baton rouge market.

If you know his history with TJ Moran, this is an absurd move and a big slap in the face to Ruffin

Short story, Ruffinos was owned by TJ Moran. Ruffin and Peter put money together and bought it from him. But TJ still owned the land beneath them, and they had to pay him rent. Apparently he was a huge dick to them and hiked up rent and acted like he owned the place. Eventually they got enough money together and bought out the land too. But up until TJ died they would bad mouth him constantly. When he died they had a public change of heart and did some tribute to him during his funeral, but I don’t think they privately changed their opinions on him

But now Peter and Ruffin split and Peter goes to work for TJ (His estate or whoever he willed it to). That’s a big slap in the face to say Peter would rather work for TJ than work together with Ruffin

Once again, thank y'all for your opinions. Peter was brought on to TJ Ribs as a consultant. He has the desire to create for every genre of food. He is a chef/businessman with a multitude of talents.

He, Ruffin and I worked together for 2 years at DiNardo's. It was one of the best times of our lives. Then they created a wildly successful restaurant in Baton Rouge with Ruffino's. Anyone who worked for TJ knows if you didn't give 110% every shift, your career in his restaurants would quickly end. Ruffin and Peter always performed to their best of their abilities with TJ and after his passing.

Y'alls opinion on TD always matters to the owners and employees of local businesses. I hope you don't mind when we join in to help set the record straight. Thank you,
Burke Moran

I like Pete's food and I think Pete is a very talented chef, but unless they are priming for a restaurant of his own, I don't see the attraction. I go to TJ's for ribs, cole slaw and another side...primarily.

However, it was TJ Moran that gave Ruffin his big break back in the 1990s after DiNardo left town and they decided to change the name of the restaurant.

Maybe he could have saved the Prairieville location.

Prairieville location was poor management. A good chef wouldn’t save that
