Yes. Maxs does have good burgers but I can't take the smoke smell. Also Dix has a good burger. The jalapeño cheddar bun in off the charts.

You guys need to try Gabe's in Rayne if ever passing down I-10. I dont know what it is that they put in it spice wise (cayenne obviously) but it is the burger that I have and always will crave. It's simple shredded lettuce, tomato, cheese, mayo on a processed bun but the burger patty itself is delicious. They are hit or miss, but if you get a good one they are fantastic. The fries are horrible but the fried chicken, fried pickles and any of the rice and gravy plate lunches over there are on point.

I was at Don's Seafood Hut the other day with a group and didn't want seafood. Asked if they had a hamburger. It was off menu, but was big and very good. I would defiantly eat again.

Just ordered at Grub. 0-2 so far and haven't gotten my food yet--1.) all TVs are on some Carson Daly bs and not the MNF game 2.) didn't ask me for a burger temperature. Updates coming soon.
Update: Ordered the 'front porch burger' which is just your basic burger, add cheddar. I like to judge a burger place on the basics. Burger came out quick--maybe 15 minute wait and there's a decent amount of people here.
Burger patty was very unimpressive. Thin, looked and tasted like a pre-frozen, and you could see where the burger split and actually came apart during cooking. On the other hand, I was impressed with the temperature--was expecting them to roast it since they didn't ask but it had a nice red in the middle. The bun was great--really would have gone better with a bigger patty. Fries were good too--thin cut and nice and crispy.
Overall--there are better spots. Maybe I got unlucky with the patty size, but that killed it for me. Probably won't be back. Pretty disappointed how a burger like that can get out of the kitchen for a place that burgers are the namesake.

I went back today and it was ok. The fries were good, but the burger was average. I want to try the salmon burger soon. I have been twice and I don't think they ask for how you want it cooked. You get it as they serve it

Max' s pool hall.
We have a winner. Plus Max is a cool dude and he cooks every burger. Drink a beer, eat a burger, forget about smoke smell. Pretend it's hickory smoke for a brisket instead of Winston, which tastes good like a cigarette should.

Since other people are mentioning out of town burgers, I'll say Rocket in Jennings.
