I have dealings in the Publix corporate office on a weekly basis and I can guarantee that is not the case at all. It is a geographical issue and to a lesser degree demographics.

Winn-Dixie in Metairie carries them. Don't they have Winn-Dixies in Baton Rouge?

They have Publix stores in Alabama. I imagine Alabama and Louisiana have very similar labor laws. I've always figured it was a geography thing -- think Publix got into the Mobile area in the last few years.

It does take a long time to get your deli meat in Calvin's. If there's any sort of line I just don't get any.

Boars head is pretty pricey so I usually just end up buying whatever their weekly special is at my local Ralph's.

I like their meat much better than Columbus fwiw

I really like the Boars head stuff in terms of flavor and variety. True they don't last as long as others but I don't necessarily see that as a bad thing. Ralph's typically has it priced at 8.99-9.99/lb. most others in BR have it $1-2 higher. I don't know what the deal is with customer service at delis. It's like a game to see who can ignore the customer the longest.

Not the location in Prairieville, they stopped within the last couple months. Never seen or heard of the brand they carry now

They switched to something else recently. I was very disappointed when I went in the other day for some rare roast beef and Vermont white cheddar.

In Slidell Winn Dixie had Boar's Head, and they stopped a week or two ago. My wife was pissed. She loved the maple honey turkey or something like that. They had some good roast beef too.

I was all set to prove you wrong just now. I went in there and brought today's newspaper to the deli counter to take one of those "proof of life" hostage photos but, lo and behold, Boar's head has been replaced by Dietz & Watson. Oh well.

I know, I know! I really wasn't accusing you of lying but I know that I had just bought some Boar's Head there what I thought was just a week ago.

Please accept my apology.

I find the Rouses house brand cheaper and majority of the cute superior to the BH...

From the Cajun turkey to the buffalo chicken..

The rouses brand cheeses are pretty good as well... my favorite is the habenarro jack but a lot of the stores don't carry the big block that they slice. But SOMETIMES you can buy the small individual block and hahebthem slice it for you, but on occasion they are an arse and say they aren't supposed to.. :/
