When you planning this trip? If April 7-9, change your plans. Thank me later.

It's seriously bad. Change your plans. The entire highway 90 will be a shitshow

Fixed it for you.
Cruisin' the Coast is just as bad. It may be worse, because it goes on for over a week now.

There's a Doe's Eat Place in Margaritaville now.

Like Cork said, during those dates, traffic on Hwy 90 will be virtually gridlocked for 12 miles.....unless sitting in traffic and watching impromptu twerking is your thing.

I went to Mary Mahoney's in January for the first time. I was not impressed with the food at that price point. I almost laughed when they brought the salad. It was lettuce and 2 grape tomatoes. I don't even recall that it had croutons. Just lettuce and tomatoes. Service was okay but still I expected more from this revered restaurant.

I don't care for the food at Shaggy's either.

Restaurants I do like:

Trapani's, Blind Tiger and 200 North Beach all in Bay St. Louis

Bacchus on the Beach, Asian Paradise, Hook all in Pass Christian

Murky Waters, Salute is ok, Blow Fly Inn (haven't been since new owners took over) in Gulfport

The Reef and the lunch buffet at the Palace Casino Resort in Biloxi

Haven't ventured much to Ocean Springs but hope to soon.

Gave up on the buffet at the Beau a few years ago. Oh and don't eat at the Hard Rock Cafe either. Awful food!

Nice ambiance, but average food at upper echelon pricing.

This is the kind of shite I was talking about in my first post. The food isn't that great and they charge a premium, a high premium at that. $40-$50 a plate for veal parm and other basic dishes that should be in the $20s even at higher end joints.
The veal I got was bland, had over cooked pasta and some weird arse cheese sauce on it. Was dry and not good.... well it did have lump crab on it. That and the ol boy makes it a no go for me anymore. Can't eat in there w/o him trying to be the center of attention at every table in the joint.

I'm no food snob, but I frequent ruffinos, digulio bros, Gino's, panettas, French market bistro etc in Baton Rouge. All of which have better food and way better prices. It killed me to pay for dinner that night

Again, go to say you've been.... but go w/o expectations on the food side.

We moved to this area from Baton Rouge and I agree with you. I did enjoy the bread at Mary Mahoney's.

Haven't been in a while, but I like canellas in the bay too.

That was some expensive bread!

We finally got around to eating at Canella's. We were not impressed. Food was not hot and that was disappointing. We wanted to love it because a cousin recommended it and she is an excellent cook.

Maybe just an off night.

I'm just glad that my husband wasn't with me at Mary Mahoney's. That would have been double the disappointment!

Oh I forgot to put Cora's on my list for Gulfport. It is in the White House Hotel. I enjoyed dining there.

Oh and in Long Beach I like Darwell's. It's a hole in the wall restaurant that has been on DDD. Not everything is great there but I love their pulled pork and the ham and cheese sandwich with crabmeat. Yum!

I am going to the Beau Rivage this weekend. There are many good restaurants in and within two blocks of the Beau. My favorite is BR Prime if you don't mind spending some money. I tell myself it is cheaper than sitting at the gambling tables. Stalla Italian Restaurant is very good. Mary Mahoney's is across the street. Their food is good but you go there for the atmosphere. Down the block from there is the Half Shell Oyster Bar which is pretty good. We go to Biloxi several times a year and we usually choose from those places.

His "spin" of Cajun food is well...... bad. His "thing" is he doesn't fry anything. Tried it on numerous occasions and couldn't getting into it. I worked in Gulfport for 6 yrs and lived there and in the bay for that time. Also, as previously said I go at least once a month to visit the MIL.

I agree on Coras being good, although I've only been once.
