Yes.
How about going and trying it?
I don't like floppy, barely melted pizza, man. Perhaps we have different tastes when it comes to pizza.
Sorry I blasted it but damn it looks bad

Not at all. Ive never used a knife and fork at Ancora. It comes out of the oven blistering hot and as I seem to recall from chemistry or some other science, hot food is often more fluid. I go to Ancora a lot. I appreciate the differences in crust and toppings (which are pretty first rate). Too each his own

It isn't.
Its pretty damn great. Go try it instead of looking at someone's picture that isn't really an accurate representation.

yea that picture looks bad alright, but my experience has been the opposite

Been 3 times. Also it seems others are corroborating my take on their pizzas.

I really like their toppings. Just can't get over that soft crust. Maybe I'll give it another shot, if O Brah wants to pay and put together another case for the joint.
I think the anti pizza plate there is badass, Fwiw

Its a pizza.
All of its toppings are generally things that include a fair amount of fat (cheese, salami, olives, capers, etc...) If it isnt "greasy" it isnt using high quality ingredients.

I'm sure it is. I'll try it out next time when I'm in NO

I think its a great pizza. Its not a NY style which is what a lot of people are used to, but the ingredients are top notch.

The style of bread is different but it is authentic to pizza from Naples. That is how those who invented pizza, classify pizza. I always think of Neapolitan pizza as more in the bread world

I like Ancora. Haven't been in a while but I find it very similar to Domenica or Pizza Domenica. My last three times have been at Domenica. Have to revisit Ancora now.

And that's why you have a crust and the proper combination of ingredients to not make it a grease logged ball of dough.
Have I been? Nope. Am I planning on going? Yup. And I'll report back when I do. I hope it's more like what BO is describing and not what R2R or zealot suggested.

Non-pizza mavens.
They can only visit Domenica with invitation.

I've been twice but now with pizza domenica I probably won't leave the safety of the neighborhood for Ancora.

I'm a victim of circumstance. WC on during lunch and Theo's is one of the few spots with TVs.

There's an Applebee's right there, brah.
Eatin' good in the neighborhood. Get you a nice steak. Some chips and salsa. Maybe a margarita. Or perhaps an international cocktail for the occasion. Step your game up.
