Not sure why the downvotes. Rocco’s does a good shrimp and roast beef.
I eat spaghetti and meatballs at Pocorella’s so I can’t comment on the po boys and I enjoy Anthony’s but don’t eat too many muffuletta either.
The pressed meatball at Jeds is worth the stop as is the Cuban.
And Pokey isn’t afraid to drop an N bomb in the middle of the lunch rush.

I don't understand either. Every sandwich I have had from there was pretty damn solid. I was pissed when the one by LSU went down years ago.
Inga's
Anthony's
Pocrello's
Rocco's
George's (overpriced as frick)
Brewbachers had an awesome burger and classic club imo
Caterie was always good for a greasy sandwich back in the day ($5 apps on fridays though

I think the food is good but it's expensive for what it is imo.

it's overpriced af for what you get.

Yeah, I can think of other places I'd rather eat for $17 or whatever.
Right behind them, Drusilla has a half poboy (shrimp, oyster or catfish), hushpuppies, fries and a salad for $9.75 on the lunch menu.

Yall bite your tongue on the am mart slander. Those sandwiches are made from the tears of Jesus
Posted on 1/21/21 at 4:22 pm to jkylejohnson
They’re similar to an Inga’s sandwich just with less meat and toppings options at a lower price point.
AM Mart is a better value; but it’s not a better sandwich.

It is pretty high, but where they burned their bridges with me was when I went there for a roast beef poboy a couple of times some years back and they were substituting their usual French bread with some pitiful excuse for French bread, and bread in a general sense, and still rocked me full price. Believe me, when you substitute bread on a sandwich of all things, I will notice. It’s the most important thing on a sandwich, first and last thing that hits your palate. It’s critical. You can charge me double, but when I go somewhere expecting to enjoy something I love, like one of theirs RB poboys I used to love, and get that crap, and still pay full price, it was like a big trick, and I was the victim. I didn’t appreciate it.

Super frustrating that they stopped doing them for a while during covid. I don’t know if they have the full menu againZ

The BEST sandwich shop in BR is Maxwell's Market....not for poboys but any other kind of sandwich there is nothing else that compares.

Anthony's is one of my favorites!! Their bread for the muffaletta is the best (better than Central Grocery because theirs are only good if you get them fresh). Although, when Anthony was alive he would not serve me ... he told me I wasn't Italian and I shouldn't be in there.
As for Poccorello's ... I've tried, and it's good. But after being overcharged twice and just the plain rudeness, no thanks.
JED's is really good.
Looks like I need to try Inga's.

Their prices are pretty much within a dollar or so from all others so I don’t consider that a big deal-since I’m not eating po boys daily anyway.
I had a catfish po boy there last week and it was on leidenheimer bread. And I don’t know why as I’ve not had a catfish po boy in ten years I was craving one but man it was good and full of fish. It’s also one of only two sandwiches that I put ketchup on the other being meatloaf.
But Jed’s is doing a good job at the moment.

American Market sandwiches are decent for what they cost, they don't deserve to be anywhere in a discussion of best sandwiches. People just love them because of nostalgia but everything about them is overrated.
I'll die on this hill
Prepare for battle.
AM Mart is the best sandwich in BR!

Best value? Yes. Best? No.

The other dude is right. It’s a nostalgia thing. I’m not saying it is bad food, but it’s cold cuts sold from a gas station type store. And it’s not $4 anymore. If you didn’t go to LSU and have the nostalgia, I could see it being a disappoint.
