Meh, def. not Galatoires.

I can't argue at all with the Commanders suggestion.

I've seen Dickie Brennans mentioned before, if you are considering steak places, I have to throw Laboca out there.

Galatoires is a fine traditional restaurant. The best fresh seafood just off the boats. Everything is well prepared. Not what we'd call innovative by any stretch, but very good.

I would go Brigtsens, Clancy's, Gautreau's or Commanders. Great choices and I've been to all of them for business with men and don't see why this would be an issue.

I'm not a big Cochon fan and while I am a Dickie Brennan's fan it still is a steakhouse that I'm sure the group can get comparable from their own city.

Luke, Domenica, Bistro Daisy and La Petite Grocery would be another list and Peche but if shellfish is off the table that kind of bumps it.

I would recommend Upperline.

Commanders is a perfectly great restaurant, but for a group of guys thats not where to send them.

You offered no suggestion. Where would you send a group of guys in Nola for the first time, on business, for one dinner out, which represents New Orleans?

Somewhere more casual and downtown would be my guess. In addition to all the ones mentioned above which fit that criteria, I'd throw Emerils or Bayona into the mix.

More than likely this group of four will include at least one picky eater and/or one person who says something like, "Its all gonna be crapped out in a day anyway/I cook better at home."

Bayona doesn't seem like a place for a group of guys either. But I'm not a guy so...

Best New Orleans Restaurant to take out a group who has never been? Looking for a great dinner to showcase my hometown to a few buddies. We'll be in New Orleans for work and have one free night to have a great dinner.

I take this as four professional men coming to town for business and looking for a great dinner as he stated. Why not Bayona? Should they just go to Hooters and get some pitchers and wings? Wanting to showcase New Orleans I would not go to Dickie Brennan's even though I love the place. I can get a good steak in Dallas, Houston, Tulsa wherever I'm coming from. Chances are I can't get a nice soft shell crab or fresh speckled trout, turtle soup etc...

Emerils and Delmonico should be considered as well. I'd even say K Paul's even though it doesn't get much on this board it is still a great place.

Domenica & Cochon are good choices. Borgne is good too and they have other options besides seafood.

The correct answer is Coquette.

There are tons of correct answers. Its really more of an essay question. I am just amazed at the number of reflexive "Commander's" answers in this thread. Its a great restaurant, storied and all that. But as the one place 3 or 4 guys should visit in New Orleans?

Shoot, I think Korea House would be an awesome place to go.

I almost suggested Emeril's, but the one time I had a steak there, I wasn't too pleased with it. Every other meal there has been terrific. Since there's a person with shellfish allergy who might order steak, I omitted it.

I don't think Commander's was merely a reflexive response. I think it was an appropriate response based on the OP's specific request.

This was kinda my feeling about that as well. Hell, La Boca is my favorite steak in New Orleans but there's not much New Orleans about that place.

To answer one other post in this thread--there's really not a picky eater out of the group. Everyone is just excited to sample some of the local fare and I just want to make sure I'm up on the times so that I can be a good ambassador.

Thanks again for all the suggestions everybody.

If you are leaning downtown, I'd look at Herbsaint. Great place.

It's been about 5 or 6 years since I've been to Emeril's, but last time I was there I had the hangar steak and it was incredible. Almost as great as the hangar steak at La Boca
