Cajun Pecan House is awesome. Is Best Bakery still open. That was my favorite.

I've not had Randazzo's... I had Gambino's and Meche's and both are quite good..

Anyone tried Navarre's in Springfield? The praline one we got last year was pretty effing good.
The King Cakes from there are amazing. I think they might be my favorite now. All of their flavors are incredible.

Original "Randazzas" in the Mette. In the Acadiana area, try Pouparts. Can't believe the love for Meches. All they do is smash the donuts together to form an oval and dump icing on the top.

I dunno how many times I was late for work because the line was so long and no matter who got the baby, they wanted cakes from Randazo's.

Which apparently is too "hugh class" to sell donuts.

I've actually been interested in making my own over the past few years, and never did for whatever reason. Think I might actually give it a shot this year. I wouldn't think it's all that difficult. Just need to get the right bread recipe.
Anybody have a can't miss recipe they want to share?

Don't know about can't miss, but I trust it for accuracy. LINK ][LINK]
I'm going to make two of them this weekend. One normally, and one with krispy kreme instead of flour, just because.

I dont see how anyone can claim meches. thats a fricking cream filled donut, not a king cake. wal marts king cake is better.
Well we have a poster with a brain, a big fried donut with Mardi Gras colored sprinkles may be tasty, you may love it, but it is not a king cake. Cakes are baked, donuts are fried.
King donuts are not king cakes. We need some type of authenticity police to arrest and execute some of these posers.

Tammy's in either Covington or Mandeville (or somewhere on the North Shore) was hands down the best King Cake I've ever eaten. The chick that would bring them to work when I worked in the Quarter said Tammy's closed down. :(
Multi-colored Icing (white, purple, green,&gold), pecans, multi-fillings (cream-cheese, chocolate, fruit, etc..), cinnamon roll-ish dough.
It may not have been one of the traditional boring dry-granulated sugar ones like the purists like, but it was spectacular.
Antoine's was pretty good, too, but I guess if I had to choose one, right now I'd have to say Randazzo's in Chalmette.
