The chicken itself is good. Not the best in the world but good fried chicken. The sides are all dumped out of a can, it’s expensive as hell and Mr. D singing “grandmama was a cornbread cooking quuuuueeeeennn” over and over is annoying as hell.

Shocked Jack Pirtle's or Gus's didn't get the Tenn pick.

Maybe they don't consider Gus's as a hole in the wall? I wonder if Uncle Lou's was in the running, it's a hole in the wall with pretty damn good fried chicken

I bet Ole Country Store in Lorman is the Mississippi selection

We liked it. Okra and tomatoes, yams, and other sides on the buffet were good. Really loved the okra and tomatoes. Heard another customer asking for the recipe. Manager was coy about it, but when I mentioned a touch of cayenne he said I was on the right track.

Is Southern Chicks in New Roads considered a hole in the wall? Their chicken is fantastic.

I can’t go to Church Point to visit my wife’s family without stopping at Sunny’s. Not sure if it’s considered a hole in the wall chicken place but Church Point is definitely a hole in the wall town.

In Pass Christian that would be C & J's on the corner of North and Henderson. Their fried chicken is great and y'all would not believe the size of their chicken tenders. I can only eat one. They're huge!

I had some darned good fried chicken recently at Cassandra”s Louisiana Kitchen in Shreveport. Well seasoned, and not too much breading/batter. Crispy, thin crust. Three pieces comes with wing, leg, and thigh.

It’s a really good soul food place on Jewella near the old South Park Mall. Clean place, friendly staff, and great food.

Without clicking thru a slide show I bet Ole Country Store in Lorman is the Mississippi selection. It’s real good fried chicken. But it’s not worthy of the hype imho.

On the whole Mr. D's buffet is on point and well worth it but that is not even the best fried chicken in the Natchez area.
