Southern Classic and it's sister chain, Chick a Dilly are damn fine. Add the Arcadia store to my list.

no doubt they certainly know how to fry some birds.
there's also a place in Brooklyn, NY called Pies N Thighs that I had some spectacular fried chicken at once.

We ever meet, I'll tell you about my Chick a Dilly trip in Homer on a late Friday night in 2009. Helluva experience.

Down the road from our camp. I've eaten it many times. He claims it's the best in the world. Not sure about that but it's probably the best I've ever had.

Momofuko Noodle Bar, NYC, fried chicken dinner. Southern fried I felt was better then the Korean fried. I dream about this chicken, hands down the best I have ever had at a restaurant.
Jim's Fried Chicken holds a special place for me as my dad would get chicken from there at least once a week when I was a kid. Corner of Carrollton and Earhart for you young kids, where the Popeyes is now.
Oh and I think Willie Mae's Scotch House is bad. I just don't get the love for this place.

Gus's in Memphis, and it's really not even close.
A while back some food magazine had an article naming the top 5 or 10 fried chicken places in the U.S. My wife and I took a road trip and tried the majority of the places on the list, including Gus's, Willie mae's, Lorman Country Store, etc., and Gus's was by far the best. I ate it for lunch and liked it so much that I went back for dinner. It has become one of my Top 5 restaurants of any kind, anywhere.

Chesters in Gibson, and praise God an old black woman who was the care taker of an old lady rocked in the kitchen with anything.

These....but the best I ever had was when I lived in Brandon, MS around 2001, can't remember the name and doubt it is still open. There was a small hole in the wall place in downtown Brandon that was straight up soul food. You walked in and it was like walkin into an old grandmas house, as she made the food right there. It is undoubtedly the best I've ever had!

I love the spicy chicken from Popeye's but my bro in law swears Ball's Fried Chicken in Lake Charles is awesome. I'd like to try it but I love me some Popeyes!
