Best Food you've ever gotten from a place that looked completely awful.

I've got two...
The first was in Jamaica. Bus trip excursion, leaving Rick's cafe, dude on the roadside had a 50 gallon drum that looked like it still had oil in it outside his shack cooking jerk chicken. Daddy got a plate and still to this day have never tasted better chicken in my life.
The second was a run down shithole gas station in South Montgomery county near our hunting land. Inside was a BBQ restaurant called the Southern Star. Dear Lord, 25+ years later I still dream about those ribs, vegetables and cornbread at the dirty booth table. It was amazing.

You where probably just hungry. If the food is good they would eventually not look completely awful.

Swagat
Yeah I Swagat but I’m not sure if I went there with the old owners and what name it was.
For sure the eves were all rotted out and it looked like shite. Swagat May have painted and done upgrades since because it does not look terrible.
The Indian place before is the place I can’t remember the name of.
Maybe it was Al Noor?

Some hole in the wall looking place in Corpus Christi, Texas about 11 years ago. The Gulf was to rough for the boat that day so the Company Man and myself went out for supper and ended up at gas station/restaurant and I had best seafood I’ve ever had.

Al Noor was in the same parking lot as Swagat. Definitely the run down building was Al Noor.

I know this black dude.. Everyone calls him rev.. At one time ole boy worked for the Assessors office, drove a school bus, owned rental properties, bbq'd (he would go to memphis and win awards and shite) and had his own church. One time he told me during the week he wakes up at 4:30AM and if he is lucky he goes to bed at 11PM.
Anyway, on Saturdays he used to set up his bbq stand. He used a trailer and built a whole set up that he was able to pull with his truck. He set up deep in the hood. It was a dead in road that nothing good happens at night. He had a small piece of property he would set up on. It would be ready between 10:30AM - 11AM on Saturdays. $5. Ribs, bbq beans, sausage, potato salad and bread. There would be a line of cars waiting and he stayed open until he sold out. I like bbq and this dude had some of the best I ever had.
The parish shut him down because he wasn't a business. It was just something he did on Saturdays (and not every Saturday, he would let me know on days he planned on bbqing).
