Pit n Peel is disgusting. Went last week, looked promising. Left with over half my food on the table. Got a brisket plate and to be honest, the pre packaged brisket at walmart taste better.

It pains me to say it, but Whole Foods is the best I have had in BR. I was really disappointed with Rouses brisket and pulled pork (and this is coming from someone who likes Rouses). As for TJ Ribs, those smoked wings are delicious.

Podnah's on Airline. Great sides and good ribs. Pulled pork and smoked sausage are solid too.
I ate lunch there yesterday. The $7.99 lunch plate is hard to beat. The beans are kicking. If they ever changed those I probably wouldn't go back.

TJ ribs smoked wings are delicious. The idiotic notion on this board from an uneducated view that they boil their ribs is humorous. Simply not true

Agreed. Podnuh's has the best bbq beans in town. The wife and I are regulars at their Florida Blvd location. Their meat is far from elite, but their brisket is pretty good if you catch it on a good day. Their sides are all excellent.

Deep South BBQ on Plank. Seriously. I promise you won't get shot.

Had the 3 meat plate at Wholefoods. Pull pork, brisket, and ribs, plus baked beans and french fries. It was all very good and A LOT to eat. 15.99 I think.

They have the best brisket in town. So tender.

Barbosa's BBQ will be at Blues Fest all weekend FWIW

You'll have to leave BR and go south or east. Watson has Firehouse. Prairieville has Hannah Q.

Until BRQ opens, the best BBQ in BR will be the stuff you make at your house.
Sonny's is good in a pinch, but they are taking their sweet time reopening.

This is true. Anyone know if they are back open yet since the flood?
It is not as of yesterday. And I'm getting nervous about them reopening at this point...not a lot of work appears to be going on. That will be a terrible shame. Best brisket in the Baton Rouge area, imo.

Hand smokin aces today - first time in a while. Had the shop plate and it was better than in the past. Brisket (point/moist) and ribs were the best. Pulled pork and sausage were solid.

Nothing at tj ribs is exceptional or incredible.
The Beef Ribs are damn good. Not sure of anywhere else in BR you can even buy them prepared.

Not in BR but close - Bergeron's in Port Allen has ribs and chicken on Wednesdays only. Better than any place in BR.
