Your assertion is that breweries and taprooms are essentially going to replace bars that have a robust amount of beer offerings?

Their downfall seems like it will be something else considering the social media drama with them currently

Even douchebag Scott at Courtyard seems to have figured this out much better than her.
He gets a pass from me as he is doing work raising funds/supplies for Ida relief in the River and Bayou Parishes.
Good for him, but no passes given.

I’ll make a bold prediction that the Bulldog on magazine will be closed for similar reasons within the next two years as well.
Went there about 3 weeks ago, every single IPA except for jucifer was out. I would order a beer, she would go to try it, out, rinse and repeat 4 times until I finally got to jucifer and they had it

Well all of their staff staged a walk-out and quit en masse a few weeks ago and it was publicized all over social media, so it will certainly be interesting to see what happens.

Yea some people are much more forgiving than me. I dont give you a pass after being a shithead for years because you apparently did one good thing
Nothing but the worse for him because I know he feels the same

For some reason, Scott doesn't really bother me that much, even though I know for a fact he would probably permanently banish me from his premises if he actually knew my political views.

He doesnt bother me. Guy could knock on my door right now and I would have no idea it was him. Only time I see his name is on here.
same here

Great story! Not counting my younger adult years of out all night Snakes sunrises, I've had some of the best adult with a decent job, then house, then family, party days/nights at Avenue, if that makes sense.
I think they were one of the first bars in the area to do American Craft Beer Week events which were epic. Also had a very underrated kitchen that stayed open really late, was one of the few bars that drew tourists, college kids, blue collar, white collar and service industry people. It was a place I've been for/after work, graduations, funerals, weddings, Saints/Pelicans games, parades, election parties, and even once or twice for a morning drink with 3rd shift medical and emergency workers.
Regardless of how people may feel about the owner, Avenue Pub is a NOLA treasure and it would be a huge loss if it closes.

Been going to the Pub for 20 years before she took it over from her dad. Polly is an idealist JAP born on 3rd base, her little troll minion Eileen is a complete cvnt who seemingly goes out of her way to treat every customer like shite, and the bartenders are surly and rude. Polly owns the building outright because it was passed down from her father. They did a bunch of renovations when COVID hit, but she's still been whining about money the entire time. If she can't keep a business together on St Charles Ave paying no rent while the governement is handing out fists of cash to small businesses, then she's a complete dumbass. FFS the horrible Tacos and Beer place a block away is crowded 24/7.

So basically to sum it up a business made bad business decisions and is blaming govt daddy.

Some of you a**wipes talk total nonsense, but you cloak it in race toned diatribes to "own the libs." In reality you just come across as the biggest douchebages to ever inhabit the planet.

I must be alone but Eileen was never anything but exceptionally nice to me. I'm actually suprised to hear she isn't liked.

Yeah, I've never had a problem with Eileen either. Or Polly on a personal level.

Somehow I don’t think I ever met Polly

All self-inflicted. I used to love Avenue Pub, but it’s absolutely awful now. We gave it one last try a few weeks ago, and both my wife and I were like, “yeah, I think it’s time to say goodbye” afterwards.
The absolute last straw for me was when I got up, mid meal, to go to the restroom and was rather loudly dressed down for not wearing a mask by one of the staff. I just looked at her like she was stupid and continued to the bathroom. The frick if I’m going to tolerate the airline treatment at a restaurant or bar.

Yeah, 10 years ago it was awesome. She'd get all sorts of shite in there that no one else had.
Us too. We went about 6 months ago or so and it was when you had to order food to get in. We looked around and left. It’s a sad state currently.
Im happy to frequent the taprooms every so often but even that is old.
The entire restaurant culture is changing for the worse in New Orleans and we frequent them regularly. I feel bad because on one hand the service took an absolute plunge, but I know they are extremely short handed.
