pretty obvious the Cole slaw is controversial.
to me a chili dog should be like a bowl of chili but better.
I would not put Cole slaw on a bowl of chili

bun
dog
chili
cheese
onion
maybe mustard

as far as a slaw dog goes, sauerkraut is the better choice

Nice to see another slaw guy. This is the way I have eaten them for 70 years. Still love them this way. Mustard on my slaw.

And you can hold them without using a fork. It just takes commitment and practice - Lots of practice that I have invested.

Chili Dogs from Billeauds in Broussard are one of the greatest breakfast deliveries a vendor can make to a client.

Don’t know if they’re as popular in the BR metro. But they should be.

I know it’s just a tourist spot, but the only place I’m loading that much crap onto a hot dog is at the Varsity in Atlanta. A couple of chili cheese slaw dogs, an order of onion rings, and a Coca-Cola from the fountain.

If I’m going chili dog at the house, Nathan’s dog, shredded cheddar, Hormel canned chili, mustard, and a boatload of raw minced onion.

Same here.

I may get shite on, but Hebrew National makes a lean all beef dog that's 45cal per, and Hormel does their chili in turkey version. Neither taste a damn bit different from their counterparts, and it makes chili dog night something we can do often. And we do.

Hebrew National is my #2 behind Nathan’s. If neither is available, I’ll just eat hot dogs another day.

I slang coneys in Detroit for almost a decade years back. I saw every order you can imagine for a traditional regional food. Coneys with American cheese, sour cream, lots of slaw and kraut- sliced dill pickle, hot pepper relish, and sliced green olives with mayo were common. Jalapenos and shredded cheese was a staple, as was grilled onions and bacon. Ketchup, mustard, relish, sure- but a natural casing dog, coney sauce, yellow plochman's mustard and fresh diced onion always hits the spot.

Never heard of a 'chili dog' though.

Regular hot dog bun
Dog (preferably a Angus Oscar Meyer)
Mustard
Chili (love Walmart Great Value brand)
Mixed cheese
Onions
Fresh jalapeños

3 of those and a Founders All Day IPA. Life is good.

If you are worried about calories there is chili sauce that’s way less than regular canned chili calorie wise. Generally I don’t do it often so I just say frick it and get the real stuff. It’s also not ridiculous when you take serving size into account.

Am I the only person that loves to cook but can't stand the taste of raw onions?

In North Carolina, we eat them Carolina style: chili, mustard, slaw and onions.
