Big sardine guy here, probably eat a can at least once a week- usually just salt them and down the hatch, but recently started getting into putting one on a saltine or club cracker with some Louisiana hot sauce. They're also good in a Caesar salad.

I don't enjoy them unless the spine has been removed.

Does anyone have any good recipe suggestions that incorporate canned sardines? I recently bought about fifty cans on amazon for a straight up steal. I've been thinking I'd like to make a dip with them, maybe cream cheese based

Lived on sardines and free whoppers (another story) when I was in law school.

I like sardines about twice a month. I put them on a multi-grain saltine and eat then straight out the can spine and all.

If you can ever get your hands on fresh sardines those are much better than the canned variety.

I've eaten them all my life and buy the King Oscar two layer. I love them fresh and then roasted with olive oil and sea salt over charcoal. Whole Foods normally carries them but you have to tell the fish guy.

Cook a pound of pasta, sauté a can of sardines in their own oil, lemon zest, few capers and a bunch of fresh chopped parsley just until warmed through then toss with pasta.

Love me a sardine sandwich, with yellow mustard on white bread.

I used to be a big fan when I was a kid but I've just grown out of liking them. I do grove on canned smoked oysters however.

I'd rather have a Clemson 4 finger colonoscopy.

They were so fricking good in Portugal, fresh and prepared all kinds of different ways. I'll try to find some recipes to post.

Big fan. Eat them often straight out of the can. A few crackers, hot sauce, maybe a piece of red rind cheese, and/or slice of onion. Good eats.

Lot of downvotes for a sardine recipe.

After reading this thread I ate a can of sardines. The big single layer ones with skin and bones. Yum!

I have heard of a sardine and sliced onion poboy before. It was a story in the Picayune about a poboy competition and this was decades before the poboy festival.

I like sardines OK, but I only have them a couple of times a year now. I ate them frequently when I was a kid - with mustard on a saltine or white bread.
