Remember Feng Shui? She really got his goat on so many occasions. That's why he despised her. She wrote very intelligent posts to him defying most of his words. I've always wondered who she really was. He probably had to ban her a bazillion times. She was always able to get back in with her usual handle or a new handle. Frustrated him to death. Made me giggle.
ETA: He had to get up really early in the morning to delete posts and people because at night when he wasn't on the board or while he did his show, posters took liberties. I sure wish I'd had the good sense to copy and save some stuff from those boards. There were golden posts and threads there. Always entertaining. Initially, it was great as far as substance, but he ruined it.

Yes, it was Janice. They're divorced now. Never reopened after Katrina, I don't believe. He's got a little place in Algiers maybe? Serves some really good looking foods to go.
I don't think Lake's talks about TF anymore. I'm not even sure she posts much at all. She used to have a link to her first site that had all the TF stuff on it. She was brutal. He was brutal. Her followers were brutal, but then some of those left because it just got old. They started their own forum, but it never took off well. More like a group a friends chatting with each other online.
TF used to lose his temper fairly regularly. He was so bad that he sometimes went back deleted his own horrible posts. Thinking on it now has just brought back how truly awful he was.

Remember the really really strange woman that posted for a while that I guess in today's terms would be described as "gender neutral"? Had some good food info, but somehow a link went back to a blog of her's and it was some interesting stuff. Talked about how she either let a guy beat on her with a cardboard postal tube or she did the beating.
I think she was partners with chef Chris Debarr or whatever his name was.

La, Gris is bringing back memories of the internet old days! I never got into the personal attack stuff, but I can remember many occasions when he would provide factually incorrect info (often on seafood/fisheries, or southeast LA coastal stuff, or geography) when I’d weigh in. He could never admit to being wrong, and would never bother to verify easily researched things....would just reply with his best guess or “heard it” information. Just lazy as all hell for a media guy. I gave up probably three or four forum versions ago when it was clear he was only interested in self promotion and making a buck. No genuine interest in deeper knowledge of LA food culture.

That was the author Poppy Z. Brite. See then and now below. She's now transitioned into a gay man named Billy Martin. I'm not sure what you call that. She's a bizarre person. She knew a good bit about restaurants. TF didn't like her/him.

What was so frustrating about his sites was that there were some very good posters there with great info. He didn't like that. I think they showed him up.
He used to do a "food of the day" post for a while. The problem was that when the good posters would post ideas, recipes and the like, the thread would go South somehow. I remember some good stuff being deleted. Shame. Minus TF, the board was great.

Someone sent me this link a while back. S/he has a Go Fund Me page to raise money. It indicates she's starting to write again. Looks like she got the money needed. Amazing. I can remember that she would sell books and other things periodically on Ebay to make money for her transition.
