My wife did bat wing chicken wings one year. Dyed barbecue sauce pretty much black and coated the wings in it. The black wings were so visually unappealing, I couldn’t eat them. It just wasn’t right seeing them black.

I bake homemade bread and make homemade tomato soup.
Perfect for the usually chilly weather of trick or treat.
But it's gonna be almost 70 up here tomorrow.

I used to buy Halloween candy on November 1 for the discount. Now it isn't even that good a deal on clearance.

Always chili dogs with all the trimmings and either a baked potato bar or Frito pie bar option. A particular bean dip with sour cream spider web piped on top. Then I always try whatever is cute on Pinterest -- bloody eyeball deviled eggs, vampire bite cupcakes, witch finger cookies, graveyard cake, etc.

Every year my dad makes “rodeo dogs”
Just cheap hotdogs boiled in water, then placed on a bun, squirt of mustard, cheese, then chili, and topped off with onions. He makes each one then wraps it in foil and places them all in a styrofoam ice chest.
Best chili dog you’ll ever eat.
It’s important to put the cheese before the chili. Otherwise the cheese would come right off when you unwrap it from the foil.

Beef vegetable soup. Various family and friends rotate through and eat/drink.

In years where it is cold, we do hot apple cider on the stove and a pumpkin bread, banana nut bread, or something similar for a snack. Won't be doing that this year, unfortunately.

Pastalaya - big pot of worms
Smoked ribs and sausage - bones and such
Deviled eggs - eyes…and deviled?
But on a cool Halloween night, a nice bowl of chili hits the spot.

Peanut farm close to my house shuts down soon after Halloween due to weather. My neighborhood has a Halloween party every year, so I get a few bags of peanuts and boil the weekend before the party. Kids love them, and I bring gallon ziplocks for neighbors to take the leftovers home.

We also eat hotdogs and I don't know why. My kids are getting older and want to go off with friends instead of mom and dad, I'll probably switch to ribeyes.
