been there and I get that... I had a horrible experience at la caretta a few weeks back at the bluebonnet location. i emailed them to let them know it was going to be a long time before i return to that location. they asked for my address and I didnt send it. because i dont want to go again free or not. i was giving them a heads up so more people arent turned off.

exactly .. it is noble that they want to give you free food .. but the damage is already done in your eyes .. so why throw good money after bad .. ? let's say you went in and the dish was suddenly wonderful .. well, you are just going to think "why didn't they do this right the first time?" ... they have already lost you .. you are just trying to help them not lose another 35 people ..

And really the more important point is:

OK you could agree to go there when Beauxnes is working and ask to see him. You could meet up and tell him you're Tigah Rag and he could personally see to it that your meal comes out hot as it should and that everything is spec.

But the problem is you could go back 3 weeks later and without the special personal detail being given to your meal you could have another disappointing meal.

WTF is the point? Great, you've proved under direct managerial supervision you can get ONE meal out the way it's supposed to be. OMG IT'S A CULINARY TRIUMPH!

Agree with everything in that last post. I have never been to TJ Ribs but this is true for any place.

as a former restaurant manager, the point of being vocal was to make them aware of how others view their experience of food and service.

i often think of starting a consulting firm just to give restaurants an honest take of how others view their experience. because, so many people are turned off by things the owners can decide how to approach and problem solve, but it really is about making people aware of their clients perception.

Only issue I have with this whole thread is the fact that the original poster keeps saying the owner should not come into the thread, but at the same time he directly called him out by name.....

Look to the right and some months ago, when TJ Ribs became a sponsor, there was a stickied thread announcing that for quite some time.

IMO, it's not the same.. Public message board and you don't want him to respond is different from sending an email..
Now, I'm off to get some ribs, from somewhere...

or things really could change?

you know, maybe instead of waiting until the 3rd time to say something, you let it be known you had a bad meal the 1st time. and juat maybe you wont have to waste money on the next 2 cold meals.

im not going to post too much in this thread, i like rag, but the whole point was to bait beauxnes into responding, then you tell him he shouldnt respond? like others have said, he gave the right answer, wasnt being a smartass at all. and is called out subtly another 3-4 times throughout the thread. come on.

"all 3 restaurants are still operating. One in lafayette, One in BR, One in Ponchatoula. Haters gonna Hate. "

Jambo - what were the names of the restaurants?

That's the problem.

At nice restaurants, they do this (or at least try to) for every meal.

Guess the only way that you could find out is if you went in without demanding some sort of special treatment. Seems like rag isn't willing to return to the place under any scenario.

I don't know if that was the whole point but I could see the theory.

The ad was also at the top of my screen a few minutes ago, as I was reading this thread. Not sure if it's location specific, though.

Yes, it pops up from time to time and it's hard to miss it, but apparently some folks don't notice the ads, but don't tell the sponsors!

Rag, you had several bad experiences that shouldn't have happened. I don't know whether you let management know about them other than posting on this forum. That's your decision. It's also your decision whether to accept the owner's (one of them) gracious offer. The offer doesn't erase your experiences, but it demonstrates that owner cares about what you think and is making an effort to improve as well as to "repay" you for your bad experiences, in some way.

The owner handled this as professionally as one can on a messageboard.

Are you scared to go meet Beauxnes?
