I thought that was all of South Louisiana, nope. A few more for everyone to look at. Anyone know what the small OU floor mat looking things are?

Thanks for all the information, and if I decide to sell I'll circle back to those interested.

If I can give my very non-expert 2 cents, this looks like an amazing find.

I hope you will try to keep the collection together, perhaps as a donation to a library.

Agreed. This is a remarkable treasure trove of cookbooks. I'd love to spend a few hours going through them all.

On a side note, I don't know who that Denene Stringfellow guy is, but I see a couple cookbooks by him in the collection. By the looks of them, I'm thinking some Barry White playing in the background is a must while cooking any of his recipes!!

With All those hundreds of cookbooks, it's more than someone who enjoyed cooking; her collection of cookbooks obviously was something that meant very much to her.

Like many have suggested, you could make quite a penny on Ebay. The ones that didn't sell could be donated to a local college or cooking school.

He jumped out at me so I looked him up. He's an alum of Holiday Inn University, was the chef at a place named Maxwell's Restaurant in Ruston, was named the most outstanding Young Man of the Year, Lincoln Parish 1987, and coincidentally can be found singing a little gospel in his free time.

LMAO. You should not have come here with these books. Look at the rabbit hole you’re down.

This would be prime candidate for a donation to a specialized library/archive/museum. I agree this is a great collection to try and keep altogether. I would reach out to some of the bigger universities in the area, especially ones that have an archives & special collections department, to see if there is interest. They will most likely want to know the size including an estimate of linear feet and number of items. I wouldn't expect monetary compensation but between a tax write-off and the potential long-term preservation value it could be a great long term decision.

You will make more money piecing out the collection, but there really is something there for researchers to examine the collection through the eyes of the collector.

Oh, and if you can have an idea of thing like general year range, geographical area, cuisine style, condition (archives really like it if they knew the books didn't sit in moldy or damp places) etc. that might also help with the initial description part.

I don't know if I said, but none of this is at my house in Dallas, this is in rural N. Louisiana. I wish it were, I'm in OED so I could make a small fortune on FB Marketplace selling all the non cookbook collections.

If you can get them to Friends of the LSU Library, they’ll put them in their charity sale.

What a treasure you have there. I collect cookbooks as well, no telling how many I have or what will happen to them when I give up the ghost.

Separate the Louisiana ones from the other regions.

Set up paypal for the interested F+D board members to donate toward scanning them, and give access to the scanned files to whoever donated, then donate the hard copies to a library

See if any of the antique stores are willing to buy the lot for resale. And maybe some of your other collections as well.
