Took 9 month old Buddy on his first dove hunt this morning. He took to it like a veteran and picked up all 9 birds I knocked down. 27 shells, 9 birds. Not my best effort, but not my worst. At least it's better than the national average which is 25 shells per single bird. Anyway, a fine morning shoot.
Now I know there is a contingent of folk who are opposed to breasting doves. All I can say is you're missing out on a lot of ways to prepare doves. Whole plucked doves are awesome braised or in a gravy though. These got breasted, filleted, and smacked with a meat hammer. Helpful hint divorce attorneys don't want you to know, placing Saran Wrap over the meat to be pounded to avoid splattering up the kitchen.
Soak in milk and hot sauce for a bit
Season some flour
Brown some bacon
Dust the fillets and chicken fry em in the bacon drippings
Use some of the leftover flour to make a milk gravy
Fry a couple eggs
Put some gravy on the breast and Bone apateet

That looks great. I love doves and gravy. Much tastier than the clay pigeons I've been shooting.

Wow.
I'd eat the shite out of that.
