At large bids if you're really adamant about a restaurant. Uptown isn't all that. Casamento's, Clancy, Brigsten's, Le Crepe Nanou would be my choices. Maybe JaquemImo's for an at large bid.
Gautreaus's and Lilette are easily top-ten restuarants in the city. This if clooneyisgod and me to decide. Jaquemo's food is crap compared to every place I listed.

Metairie, Kenner, River Ridge, Harahan, Old Jefferson, Bucktown. That's a whole lot of people, but you're right. I'm dropping it down to 6.
sure but how many "best in Louisiana restaurants" are actually out there? that area is national chain and strip mall heaven with some local joints scattered here and there
you gonna make me choose to leave off nationally known places like le rosier in new iberia, catahoula in grand coteau and joe dreyfus in livonia so some family italian restaurant in kenner makes the tournament?
i think you need a lafayette (3) category and an acadiana (3) category because they are not one and the same

My Northshore recommendations would be: Dakota, Del Porto, Sal & Judy's, La Provence, Bear's, and Trey Yuen.
I don't know the Slidell area very well. Feel free to change my list as you please.

Definitely. Not sure about numbers but these are really two different areas.

Great choices Hen.

You will need to specify location for that one since one is not as good as the other.
For Slidell. When I lived there many liked Youngs (thought it was overrated) and Dougs (I think it closed down though but I liked it) and Veras (May have never been rebuilt though)

frankly the lafayette choices don't stand a chance to make even a sweet 16 but any of the acadiana area choices I mentioned (plus mr lester's steakhouse in Baldwin) could easily make the final four

I may have to nominate Opies and Dempseys for an at large bid just for the sake of the food board being represented. How many Broken Eggs are there? That might be disqualified for being a chain. I would also have to nominate Middendorfs since it is not really in anyone's category.

Trey Tuen - Mandeville
If Hammond is included as Northshore, you would need to add Jacmel Inn.

Cafe Des Ami is in Acadiana, I'd put that spot against just about any place in NOLA in terms of experience, it has good food, too. Maybe the best gumbo anywhere, and that counts for something.

It's going to take more than a cup of gumbo to win this thing.

Dempsey's >>>> Opie's
and what about Mason's Grill? Little Saigon? just throwing some ideas out there

One dimensional restaurants and teams never win a tourney. They may pull off an upset or two, but not the whole thing.

The zydeco breakfast makes Cafe Des Ami a quintessential spot/experience in Louisiana. Lillete is great, but some foodie from NYC will never remember it. They'll never forget Cafe Des Ami. That is my thought process at least.
Also, Central Grocery could make a run and all they have is one thing on the menu...
