Agree. I know so many counter service places that do a meal with sides for under $10.

The two I always send people to are Red Wagon in Harahan ($8.99 plate lunch with dessert) or Frady's in Bywater (8.99 meal and two sides, sodas are $1)

I would lose over 1/2 pound a day on that puny caloric intake.

Do they put a gun to your head to make you buy it? We are not poor people, we have cut way back on eating out, I can spend your $17 in a grocery story and eat great food for several nights.

Your misery is voluntary.

The point is that food cost hasn’t gone up that much. Labor cost has, but not THAT much.

Fast food prices have increased well above avg inflation, or it appears so anyway.

It’s also often times no longer ‘fast’

Sure it has. Along with paper cost, beverage cost, all insurances, repairs and maintenance

No one is raising their prices to drive more profit, the margins are already slim and it’s necessary if you want to keep pace. Positive traffic is the driving force behind any successful FF place, no one wants to risk that at the cost of inflated pricing. The data says we are already there, though.

Just as concerned with the calories. Never left there feeling anything but guilt.

I couldn't eat a Caniac in most cases, but do you guys never eat a big cheeseburger or steak? Just as many calories in many cases. It's only a problem if you do it regularly.

I went to Cane's one time.. The city was still in the Katrina doldrums. So it was 18 years ago? I don't remember what I got but it was one of the bigger meals.. It was around $8.. I got pissed and said EFF THAT, NEVER AGAIN...

to me, fast food prices are at to the point where it's worth the effort to fry chicken at home

Agreed. I went to Costco on Friday around lunch time and there was a line wrapped around the drive thru at the McD’s.

Last time I treated a friend to McD’s on the road it set me back like $25 for two combo meals. That’s just absurd to pay for fast food. I get convenience and all, but damn.

My wife and I are about to leave on a long road trip soon and we are preparing to make sandwiches and bring food with us. The past few times we stopped for fast food we wasted a lot of time, money, and calories.
