Well I'm trying it today.

One of my favorite meals is 15 bean soup with either ham hocks, ox tails or some other meat.

I had a few boudin links in the refrigerator so I decided to throw them in as the meat this time. It is currently in the crock pot at home so I haven't tried it yet.

It could be terrible or it could be good. I guess I'll find out in 6 or 7 hours.

But it got me thinking about some of the other things you can do with boudin. Other than balling it up and deep frying it, does anyone have any recipes for boudin?

Either put it in eggs or bust it open and put fried eggs on it.

Hopefully it turns out well, but sounds like you'll be eating some greasy soup tonight!

Edit: also, boudin quesadillas are amazing when using already-cooked boudin

Would think, but could be wrong, that the boudin will unravel, the rice break down and the soup become a super porridge

That's along the lines of what I was thinking. The rice may become a mess.

I have plenty of stuff I could put in there, but I figured what the hell? If it's bad I'll just take the wife and kids to the sushi bar around the corner from the house.

I will.

I have an update, sort of, already.

The wife took our daughter to a doctor's appointment this morning and she looked at it when she got home. She said it looked fine, but smelled like crap.

This may have not been a very good idea.

just about everything we make has its roots in using whatever is left over getting thrown into the pot along with the trinity.

i suspect it might fall apart and not hold together well, but it should taste really good

i really like boudin when its cut into small sized nuggets and deep fried

You need to pick up some white bread on the way home from work.

You know, so you can treat your family to the proverbial soup sandwich.
