i hate to see any louisiana black bears killed because of this, but we'll probably lose some...
I was listening to the Mississippi Outdoor radio show, and someone called and asked about the bears in Mississippi. They said that the last time it flooded, the collared bears stayed in the same area in the tops of trees and just moved from tree to tree. They only lost one that got hit on the road after the flood. So, bears, according to them, seem to do okay in these types of situations.

We have plenty of bears to spare if we happen to lose a couple in the flood.

The diversion canal at Catahoula is running backwards over the control structure. Did not have time to drive to Archie to see what's going on at the Little River wier.

Hey Dad, Those pics are from 12/2010.
It's a lot higher now. Ted(who took the pics) is a friend, I'll see if he can send me some current.
Its about 5-6 ft. from the deck of the dock now.

I thought all this was supposed to come to a head and crest around the 21st?

The "steps" or the "benches" I would bet the "steps" would be less than a foot

Correct. That is the scary part.

that's what I thought.
That's 12 days away! How the frick is water not going to get into BR when the water is already that high downtown?
I understand the Morganza is going to be opened, but doesn't that basically put the Atch. underwater?
I-10 across the Atch. is going to be a sight to see when I head that way on the 20th.

For BR - the evening of the 22nd...for now.
For NOLA - the morning of the 23rd...for now.

Assuming that Morganza Spillway is opened any chance it gets bad enough to shut the basin bridge down on I-10?

i was wondering if the morganza bridge or the i10 bridge would have to close

Thanks for the update Alx! That's getting close to my territory. We are expected to flood where I live. I'll start taking some pics of the creek behind our house and the rise of it.

I was very surprised with how the Red looks in Ellic. Very high and swift. Was there rain in the upper part of the basin? been very dry here.

The ones under the bridges closest to the train bridge are closed, the ones further up the river where most of the businesses are are still open, they are packing up and getting the hell out of there.

I thought the RR at Alex was still below action stage (per a link somewhere in this thread)

I'd like to see it. It would be a sight. But I also know that I don't want to be travelling over it.
