Unverified RUMOR at this point is that the Valero & Motiva/Shell Refineries will shut down early next week as a precaution. Exxon Refinery in Baton Rouge will also shut down.

Depends on the meaning of shutdown........

Waiting on word from the Chalmette Refinery, Murphy Refinery in Mereaux, Motiva Refinery in Covent, & Marathon Refinery in Garyville. Some if not all of those could be shut down for a couple of weeks. Each corporation will be providing updates in the next 48 hours.

Looks like some plant operators won't be making 100k this year...

SIAP

Workers used cranes to remove some of the Bonnet Carre Spillway's wooden barriers, which serve as a dam against the high water in Norco, La., approximately 30 miles upriver from New Orleans, on Monday.

My buddy works for Manhattan construction who is building the new casino in BR on river road.

Check out their jobsite camera, you can do over lays to see how much the water has risen over the past few weeks.

Waiting on confirmation but it appears that the Exxon Refinery in Baton Rouge has already made a public announcement about shutting down.

This is a text I received from someone concerning exxon

"Shutting down part. Our dock will shutdown either this Wednesday or Thursday. Refinery will have to cut back significantly on feed rates. We hope to be able to continue to get out through pipelines."

Its not like they can flip a switch and shutdown. The dock is a major outlet/inlet for feed/finished products. Only so much you can do by truck, rail, pipeline/etc. Then storage comes into play. Most units, not all, will reduce rates.

What is the final trigger for the Morganza?

Anyone know of any more time lapses of the river?
