*I rode in an uber tonight to watch the first woman become president. I was excited. An Armenian man was the driver and spoke very highly of the United States. I asked if he had voted. He said he couldn't because he wasn't a citizen yet. He was lovely. Filled with hope and love.
This lady is mad because she wasted 45 bucks on Uber.

Long but a sweet melt.....the best part is this comes from a millennial relative of mine that's in academia:
I. Am. Speechless.
This morning, I woke up with so much hope, choked back tears most of the day, dreaming about when they would call the election of America's first Woman President.
Instead, tonight, I watched as bigoted, racist, and nearsighted "friends and family" continued to out themselves as Trump supporters in the name of a "Republican" party that he does not represent.
Instead, tonight, I watched as idealistic third-party voters diluted the blue electoral votes in critical battleground states.
Instead, tonight, I listened to stories from friends near and far about how they are legitimately afraid of the consequences this election has on their life.
Instead, tonight, I watched the inevitable reversal of universal health care rights, women's reproductive rights, and LGBTQ+ rights pending the appointment of a fifth conservative Supreme Court Justice.
Tomorrow, I don't know how I'm supposed to get up and go to work and tell my students that the people in this country value each of their lives and contributions equally.
This election has taught me that I was naive to put my hope in the compassion and progress of the American people. I was wrong to think that the egregious affronts Trump is to so many identities was enough to protect us from his governance.
Tonight, we made history in a way I never thought imaginable, in a way I cannot condone, support, or explain. Instead of breaking this glass ceiling, this country hired a sexist and misogynistic pig committed to creating a bullet proof ceiling. This is not the country I know and love.
To my friends who courageously identify as woman, person of color, LGBTQ+, Muslim, Latinx, immigrant, refugee, Asian, Native American, and/or any combination or intersection of these identities and many more: I see you. I hear you. I love you. I will always rally for you. Your life matters to me.

Things I am terrified of today that I wasn't yesterday:
1. Nuclear proliferation
2. Unmitigated climate change, wholesale environmental destruction, and lack of progress in renewable energy
3. The closure of American borders to immigrants who are what make us the Beacon of freedom for the world, who are us, from a hundred years ago
4. The expansion of racism rather than the contraction
5. Internment camps in the U.S.
6. Elimination of the free press
7. The acceptance of rape culture rather than the continued fight against it and women being stripped of their rights along with the LGBT and minority population 8. Millions of people and children without Healthcare
9. The innocent people of Syria being firebombed by Russia without our intervention
10. Economic collapse due to deportation, anti-globalization, and no one fixing the tax loopholes for corporations and the extremely rich Essentially the removal of everything that makes America great.
And a comment to that:
quote:
Where are the protests? I need to be there. I feel like the time to fight back is now. If we participate in a peaceful transfer of power to trump, then we are agreeably boarding that train to our own Auswitch.

I can let a lot of hyperbole go when it comes to political candidates, but the Nazi/Hitler ones are just insulting to anyone that knows anything about the Holocaust. It insults the legacy of the people that endured it and trivializes the true horrors that took place.

We can only hope that what these liberals predict to happen would happen. It would be a great day

Here's a gem
quote:
Hey guys, here's a list of a few things we're leaving behind with Trump as our new president and a republican controlled congress. -Equal rights for women, minorities, and the LGBTQ community -Any progress we've made against global warming -Any hope of raising the minimum wage -Any hope of avoiding war -Any hope of the top 1% having to pay their fair share of taxes -Improvements to our education system from kindergarten to college -Any hope of a president with manners or diplomacy who doesn't support a male-dominated, bigoted rhetoric of supremacy. When it boils down to it, Donald Trump is an a-hole. He always has been, and always will be. Assholes don't make things great again. They just make things worse.

If you voted for Trump, consider yourself dead to me. Family or not. Delete me, cut me off, I really don't care. You have voted against my human rights and, more importantly, the human rights of millions of people. You are less than trash

LOFL!

Am I the only one feeling the shift today? It's coming up as nausea, discomfort in my heart and solar plexus chakras. I've never had such a massive reaction to an election before. In effect, the old establishment energy is moving so strongly today, that it is having a physical effect on the planet. 5 days to the Super Moon. Stay grounded, physically, emotionally and spiritually. When the 3rd dimension is poised for transition, it will grind it's heels into the dirt and hang on for all it's worth - because both parties are part of the same old patriarchy, my tribe, even if one is seemingly headed by a woman, I'm not fooled for one minute. I'm not making a political or personal statement here about the leaders, it's a discussion about archetypes and the release of the Age of Pisces. So if you're feeling the discomfort and some emotional trauma, find some good meditation music, do some yoga, practice self-care, eat something heavy to keep yourself from floating into the ether. Until Winter Solstice, this shift will be felt most poignantly. Then, the Light. Namaste, my loves.

former co-worker of mine in the (local) news industry (don't think she's still in the business though)
that was a response to some whoever's post that said...
quote:
THIS, this is the difference. Anger vs. Worry.
The same people gloating and saying we should get together and be united are the same angry hate-filled people who have been bashing President Obama (and America!) the last 8 years.
The same people who said she was a liar have been lied to repeatedly by him, and it's comical you don't see the difference.
America has not spoken.
Only half of the Americans who voted wanted this, not the whole country. And I honestly don't believe a lot of you even knew what you were voting for and don't think you understand the severity of this situation. That said, I still think there's a chance for us. And I sure hope he doesn't prove you wrong.

Had HRC won last night a lot of people would have been angry.
This morning, with the news that she lost, a lot of people are terrified.
That's the difference.
