You should reply with the video of Clinton speaking about how much she looked up the Robert Byrd:

In a video uploaded to the State Department’s official YouTube page on June 28, 2010, Clinton commemorated late Sen. Byrd by saying, “Today our country has lost a true American original, my friend and mentor Robert C. Byrd.

Copied from my news feed

Let it be known that Hillary's message is being portrayed as weak by some publications, contributing to her loss. I'd like to offer my interpretation of this: By weak, they truly mean that weak in reception. To clarify, the average voter does not care to listen to every little detail on policy and better relates to simple catch phrases such as, "Make America great again." Hillary's message was "weak" because she did not cater to the average voter and instead catered to those who wanted to know exactly what each candidate would do once in office and exactly where they stand on certain issues.

Trump's campaign, on the other hand, treated this election as if it was just another publicity stunt. That's their specialty, and, as much as I hate to admit it, the results show it. He knows that the average voter does not care to read through pages and pages of research and policies and would much rather read quick headlines and "zingers." He appealed to voters during times of weakness when some event (shooting of officers, BLM protests, Muslim related news) occurred that stoked flurries of activity on social media. Voters would then relate to his quick tweets or largely misinformed statements because they don't have the motivation to research it. The incident occurred, and they see those headlines immediately and identify with it.

Making America great again is a good message, but what is the context? What does he want to change? How does he want to change it? Let it be known that most of his "facts" which he wants to change are completely wrong and misinformed, as he pulls those facts from random far-right publications instead of properly researching them. Hillary goes into detail and loses the interest of voters; Trump hammers a few phrases into voters' heads and generates a huge following.

"It says it right here, so it must be true." This statement is scary. We live in a time where people are taking information at face value instead of thoroughly researching it. Today, elections are increasingly being determined by whoever has a better social media presence and keeps things short and simple. Most polls and predictions showed Hillary winning, but those predictions were based on classic elections where social media was not as prevalent. You cannot understand a topic after reading just one online article on a website that likely leans left or right. *This applies to people throughout the political spectrum.* Find peer-reviewed articles regarding these topics and develop a better understanding of these issues. The tough questions need to be asked, and the candidates need to be held responsible for lacking an appropriate and substantial response that details their plans.

Moral of the message: Do not resign to simply voting based on headlines and uninformed tweets. Hashtags should never influence elections. Proper research and education should.

Posting how it was written:

quote:

“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.
"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
I think like many of you I woke up in horror and disgust to a country where ethno-nationalism and white supremacy motivated a large percentage of America to vote for Donald Trump, an exceptionally unqualified and threatening demagogue, to the highest political office in the United States. Equally, if not more so, terrifying is Mike Pence, the man who will be the Vice President, a man who does not believe in global warming, thinks cigarettes do not cause cancer, and a man utterly committed to harming the LBTQIA community. These two men with the backing of a GOP-led Congress and a conservative SCOTUS will likely, based upon the vaguest hints of policies that they have revealed, attack decades of progress and erode the rights of millions of Americans who are not white men. There will be attempts to strip away a woman’s right to choose, marriage equality, health insurance in the form of the Affordable Care Act, to name a few of the hallmarks of progress in this country.
On the crux of the tipping point to halt or mitigate climate change, an unapologetically capitalistic opportunist has taken power and floated the idea of someone in the oil business to head the Department of Interior. There is an urgent need to act aggressively and decisively to stop the worst effects of climate change, yet the party in power does not even believe the scientific evidence that it exists. In a similar vein, Trump is considering a Goldman Sachs executive for Secretary of Treasury. While Trump’s presidency represents an existential threat to American democracy, his toxic rhetoric did not appear out of thin air. The legacy of the United States' unwillingness to confront its history of racism and the mainstreaming of far-right ideas in to the GOP are some of the many contributing factors that led to his rise to office. As well, Trump’s success mirrors how the far right has been in ascendancy around the world, as some writers have posited: “in reaction to the stagnating global economy”: LINK /
On a purely political level, with Hillary winning the popular vote, I think we should question the relevancy of an Electoral College for federal elections and begin to push for its removal. The one bright spot is that most young voters (aged 18-25) voted against Trump and that their values seem to fall towards a progressive agenda.
The question now is what can we do to fight against the oncoming storm of legislation that will attack members of our black, disabled, Latinx, LGBTQIA, immigrant, Islamic community members. I am not a politician and I am not someone with any power or influence, but what I will do is stand up and speak out. I invite everyone to get involved locally with politics and grassroots organizations to protect community members. Donate to the ACLU and hold Trump’s administration legally accountable, since his administration has already promised several unconstitutional actions. Protect yourself from Trump’s access to broad sweeping surveillance powers using the TOR browser and other similar cybersecurity measures. Support organizers that combat global warming, fight against racism, and for women’s and LGBTQIA rights: LINK
Protect and defend the most vulnerable, leverage your white privilege against the system, push for progressive candidates and policies down ballot. Trans friends, please go ahead and amend your documents, because this may not be an available option after the next seventy days. Women and others, please consider a long term birth control option such as an IUD and stock up on OTC morning after pills, as Trump wants to repeal the ACA which made birth-control pills free and his administration will likely not favor reproductive freedoms: LINK
I refuse to bow down to social injustice, because your lives matter to me.

There's only one thing for it: block, filibuster, fight, disrupt, antagonize, irritate, agitate, struggle, rebel. Every time they suggest something--some law, some motion, some idea---fight it. Fight it with every ounce of energy you have. Your life may very well depend on it. Every time they make a point, make the contrarian point. Fight. They think the period of division is over? The period of division is just beginning; the divisions have only deepened and widened. You owe nothing to them. Do not cooperate with your oppressors. Now for something truly controversial. I'm glad they have safeguarded my 2nd amendment rights for me, and I intend to immediately purchase a pistol and a rifle and begin taking classes. If you aren't doing the same, or it bothers you that I'm suggesting this, then you aren't fricking paying attention. Arm yourselves. Organize & Educate. Defend your communities.

What's so funny to me is how so many use phrases like I will not tolerate or hate speech pretty much everything the preach they live by is in fact the exact opposite of how they actually are.
