Any other "independent/moderate R's" out there who voted Trump, but are worried

that we go too far right now. R's having control of the WH and Congress makes me a bit nervous.

I'm socially liberal and do not want the religious right to start trying to push their extreme agenda through.

Just a bit concerned. I'm all for vetting and limited refugees to an extent. I'm for immigration reform. I'm also highly for drug/criminal reform and legalization, and for gay rights. The whole trans thing is just annoying though.

Nah.. Trump is a former Democrat.

He will govern center-right and not go full retard like, say, a Santorum Presidency would try to go.

yeah I'm a bit apprehensive. Love watching the melt though. One thing to remember with the outcome, Trump may screw things up but Hillary was guaranteed to screw up.

At least now America has a chance.

Trump is a back stop to a lot of the religious rights rhetoric.
.
He will hold the line on abortion. He is pretty level-headed to liberal on other social issues.

I think you'll see a pretty hard left turn from Trump going forward on many social issues.

I don't think a person truly changes his stance on so many issues as he supposedly has. He knew what had to be said and done to get elected.

The stark change in tone in his speech last night is a clue of what is to come.

I think Trump wont be far enough right for my taste, but he'll at least stop the bleeding. Needs to just leave the social issues to the states and focus on stuff that matters. A Hillary term would have been full blown libtarded to the point of no return.

I don't think so or sure hope not as with the vote came a modicum of civility and the Left side of the aisle would have won if there was even a crumb of same

I consider myself socially moderate, gay rights, marijuana, that kind of stuff. I'm hopeful this signals the end of the Republican Party being perceived as nothing but religious right and moving more towards the middle. Happy to have them on our side but our political decisions need to be based on what the country needs to prosper, not solely on single issues like abortion, etc. Lets move back towards a true Republic where states actually have the rights reserved to them under the Constitution and quit federal meddling.

Not Trump, but plenty of R's are still on that boat. Pence for example. And yeah, I know he's just the VP though.

I agree with you here, but Trump is a D, which is why I never understood the hatred for him from the left.

Just goes to show how brainwashed the left is when it comes to buzzwords.

OP how does Trump make you worry about the religious right and far right? Trumps about the most center leaning candidate possible. It would be hard for a republican to be more center leaving Trump used to be a Democrat.

I don't see how people think Gay marriage and some of the other rights will be touched. I don't think Trump gives a dang about many of the social issues.

I hope so. I would like to see the Republican party attain the perception of the tolerant and supportive. As we all know from this election, we have been perceived as racist bigots (which we are not, some maybe lol), but I would like to see the Republican party become the centrist party while being fiscally conservative, if that is possible.

Maybe this Trump term can prove to all the crazy, brainwashed people that R's care about the country and ALL the people in it.

And I'm pissed we lost McCrory.

I am a moderate indie as well. But I for one think Trump is more moderate than people give him credit for. Things he said during the campaign was to reel in the vote. He needed those far right votes. I really do think deep down he is something that resembles more of a Southern Democrat than a far right wing nut job.
