You’re probably correct. However, the study I linked in my post above indicates of those (in the study) who were hospitalized for treatment of Covid-19, 85% of them had never smoked.

And 55% of the patients were in the 15-49 age bracket (that’s their bracket, not mine). IOW, over half of those hospitalized (a sample size of over 1,000 patients) were under 50.

I could see that. I was alluding a lot of the deaths to obesity and smoking though. Noticing clinical, just from the nurses I know this is what they relayed to me.

Everything I’ve heard is that obese and insulin resistant are getting hit hard and that it is difficult to intubate them.

“Insulin resistant”. Damn Auto correct

And? Am I supposed to me more concerned than if the same had happened to someone 94 years old or with full blown AIDS?

Obese people tend to have a few more years to go than someone who is 94 and had full blown AIDS

I would bet 70% of you would have a “preexisting condition” according to this board.

Heart issues, no.1, diabetes no. 2... Her pic shows me one of these two was creeping up on her.

No no no
It’s fatties and people who aren’t like me.
I don't think young, fit people are immune, but I think the more things you have going on, the worse your chances are.

Saying she was obese is not insulting her, it's saying the truth. And that WILL be a risk multiplier.

The Advocate ran a story the other day about someone who died, and went with the "she was healthy enough to go to work every day" angle. Further in, you learned she was a dialysis pt with emphysema in her 50's. No offense, that's not "healthy". If that describes you, you're not healthy. I wish you no ill, but I won't lie to spare your feelings.

This young woman was obese. We know nothing else from the story, so calling her a smoker etc is out of line. But people in her condition should understand, should be told- you are at greater risk of complications and severity.

The truth tends to rustle jimmies.

Frequently.

No known health conditions, other than being severely obese?

By pointing out the truth that she's obese? That's just a fact. You can project all the false reasons you want onto why people are pointing it out, but it won't change the truth.

By assuming because she is obese she clearly wasn'y healthy enough to fight this disease of.

Sure obesity can cause all sorts of health problems but at 31 but at 31 lets be real, she probably had a perfectly normal immune system, and got smashed by this disease non the less.

Correct. The OP (or the article he quoted) claimed she had "zero health issues". That is painfully incorrect, and people pointed it out. Some of you didn't like it being pointed out, but I'm not sure why.

If you plot death rate vs age on this thing it'll probably end up being some sort of exponential curve. It won't be 0% on the low end and it (hopefully) won't be 100% on the upper end. We'll probably have a 20 year old track star who succumbs and an 85 year old smoker who does not. I'm not aware of anybody claiming that it will be 0% on the low end, just that it will be statistically very, very low.

This death does not change that, and all of the "well, you're just saying that because.........." statements in the world won't change the fact that she was obese.

I don’t mind people pointing out that she obviously has serious health issues. Extrapolating that to “only fatties are dying from Coronavirus” is dumb.

She certainly moved the odds against her favor. Not hard to figure out but you just might be dumb.

Obesity increases your CHANCES of disease, but doesn't guarantee it.

So far they have linked it to heart disease and diabetes, but if she didn't have issues with this your attributing something that may not be accurate.

Not every fat person dies from heart disease.
