I agree with you on guns. No doubt.
But on the other issue, obviously if the people, courts and government of America didn't believe that booze was a right,
there is no need to pass the 18th amendment.

So Virginia goes to the red team this year?

R voter turnout would have to be historic. I’m pushing all my boys from home to finally get involved.

I’m guessing Texas is Doc Holliday.
He was from Georgia.

So if VA calls in the National Guard can the President call in the military on the National Guard?
He could federalize the guard and deploy them elsewhere.

The DoD doesn't step in without a Presidential Declaration, period. You think Trump is going to bailout a Left wing moron? Laughable. And yes, blue flu will keep plenty of LEO's home and the Virginia NG units will easily catch it too.
If any significant portion of law enforcement or National guard of any state deserts or refuses to keep the peace when ordered to do so, regular troops will be on the ground with the quickness.
You believing that politics has anything to do with a presidential response to a loss of public order in the above scenario is peak naïveté. Yes. Trump would activate federal troops immediately, deploy VA’s guard elsewhere, and shut it down.
Eta: but I must reiterate—this entire situation is a nothing burger. There is no law, and there will be no law like the one Northam is going on about

that would be a very high cost of enforcement, which is one of the goals
troops, thousands more police, judges, jailers, prisons, few conviction due to jury nullification
billions and billions spent enforcing their will on a population that wants no part of it
keep it up enough and they will resent their money going to that instead of their own roads, schools and pet projects
They will eventually quit.

Keep the peace? Refusing to enforce these laws isn't going to result in civil unrest, just politicians stamping their angry little feet.

My 20+ years in the military and extensive legal training on deployment of Title 10 forces on American soil calls bullshite on your assertions here. You are wrong.

They would quit if they were rational.
Much like the 2008 Congress zeroing in on Obamacare without regards to fallout or even doing the job properly, these idiots are going to continue on and try to get as much of their agenda pushed through as possible or hope for an insurrection that can be forcibly put down.
The problem for them with the latter, IMHO, is that Trump won’t let them pull the level of shite Obama would.
Trump would nationalize the Guard and do what he could to overrule any attempts to force martial law in part because the pols are attempting to force it to get their way.
To paraphrase Watchmen, “All the politicians and whores will look up and cry ‘Save us!’ And I’ll say ‘No!’
Being saved from a rampaging mob of rioters upset because a criminal died in police custody is fine.
Getting bailed out because a bunch of people whose constitutional rights were being infringed upon came with torches and pitchforks, not so much.

You’re dreaming if you think there’s going to be a literal house to house gun grab. The government will tax the hell out of ammo and accessories. Anyone who buys ammo or accessories will ha e to provide details on the gun that it’s being purchased for. Gun range owners will have to record the details of any guns used at their ranges or lose their businesses through heavy fines. A central agency will handle all concealed carry requests but the purpose will be to identify gun owners, not issue permits. People who appear in the system as gun owners will be allowed to keep their guns if they pay a crushing periodic fee. The tax man will take their house and belongings long before the National Guard will.

The first major rebellion in Th is country was over high taxes on whiskey.
Do you think putting high taxes on armed individuals is going to end well?

The gun owners in California are complaining about the new restrictions there but that’s about all they’re doing and law enforcement is on the State’s side.
Maybe Virginia will be different.

It’ll end exactly like it did when Reagan banned the production of new automatics, effectively pricing out all but the wealthy from ownership. Or when Congress passed the NFA, making suppressors, SBRs, machine guns, etc. unaffordable for the masses.
In other words, people will roll over and justify being happy with their revolver and hunting rifles. Until, of course, the day comes when those are taxed out of existence too.

California is mainly immigrants and coastal liberals with some people living in the inland areas who are conservative.
Virginia has a lot of roots with regards to gun culture and other things in part because it was one of the original colonies and a lot of people have lived there for decades.
California is a state of immigrants, internal and external. Virginia has a long term stable population outside of NOVA which has boomed due to a combo of federal growth and shite policies by DC and MD that chased people off.
This is pretty similar to how Californians make a mass exodus to someplace like Colorado and then try to make everything like what they left, except it doesn’t work as well as in western states where few people have roots and there is high immigration from the south.
