If Scott Farmer was AD he'd probably already be here.

I’m happy he’s not the AD. I’m also pretty sure Maggard has had the conversation with Deggs. Fans are still grieving, but the AD still has to take care of business.

I think they should reach out to Cannizzaro.

A lot of fans would revolt if they were to hire someone like Cannizaro right now even though he's a great coach. Hard to go from Robe to a guy who messing around on his wife within his athletic department

I see Bab as kind of the baseball version of Troy Wingerter. He's been moved to ops in the last few years. If the NCAA had approved the extra paid assistant, I'd be more confident that Bab could be the head coach. Without the extra paid assistant, I think the head man has to be able to aid significantly in the hitting or pitching department.

I could maybe see him as being the coach for this year but I don't think he wants it as a full time gig. Could be wrong though. My top choice would be Deggs but I haven't really thought about it much cause I'm still in shock that he is gone. It still doesn't feel real.

This has always been the feeling from inside the AD.

Regarding an earlier post about the weight of being the next guy... It should be known that all the next guy has to do is embrace Tony's legacy and be a leader of men to be beloved in Lafayette. The benefit of being Sun Belt school, despite all the shite we take from the rantards of the world, is that we have far fewer rantards and most of them barely know how to use the internet.

Easier said than done. It's going to be an enormous burden on whoever takes over permanently

Ahh...so the line about how Cajun fans should just settle and be happy as long as our teams are 0.500 or better??

I'm honestly not sure how you pulled that from what I said. Being a smaller school, there are fewer pitchforks. The pitchforks we do have are mostly isolated to one message board with the average age of the AARP.

Internet arguments are fun time wasters but it's important to be able to separate what's really important. A man's life is bigger than all of this. Puts a lot of silly sports meltdowns into perspective. No one should take these arguments personally. I certainly don't. Seeing the thousands of people pour into his wake to pay respects really hit home. He lived a life that was profound and significant.

I heard today from a reliable source that Coach Robe had practically 100% blockage in his “widow maker” artery which caused the heart attack. The same source also stated that Robe hadnt been to a doctor in years!!
Thats very sad to hear, he seems like the type of person who stayed so busy and was looking after everyone but neglected himself.

does anyone know where he was when it happened? just curious.

Dang that's really sad. You have got to keep up with your health as you get up an age. Never know what is going on inside you

I heard the same thing. I heard he hadn’t been to a doctor in 15 years. They found out he was diabetic and his sugar was through the roof. His kidneys and liver started to fail. I also heard he was having chest pains for 2 days before the heart attack.

This was possibly all preventable which makes it even more sad.
