So Mogwai will be playing in Dallas at the Canton Hall in August. I want to take my son who will be 15 at the time. Too young? Are there age restrictions there? I’d love to take him.

No clue about venue restrictions. I would just give them a call. My kids have been going to shows with us since they were like 5, and now my eldest plays out in bands. Anyway, for younger kids, use some discernment when it comes to type of show, expected audience (how much pot will be smoked, and loudness of venue. Noise muffling headphones are a good idea for younger kids, but a 15 year old should be okay. Also, Mogwai should be a cool crowd. He might run into some nerdy 30 year old hipster in line for bathroom who bores him to death talking about vinyl, but otherwise should be safe.

I knew I was getting old when I started getting annoyed by the pot smoke and wishing I had brought ear plugs.

At 15, I was impervious.

Two years ago at 14 took him to U2 at the super dome. Last year Future islands at the Joy. This past weekend Garbage at the Fillmore.

We’ve had a blast at all of them. My 30 year old son has gone with us, so he does have someone else to bounce things off of if he needs too.

Papa M aka David pajo opening. His album Whatever, Mortal is a favorite of mine from the early 2000s. And of course his band Slint is one of the all time best.

Obviously mogwai excitement goes without saying. I’ll be going to the Austin show.

My daughter is 9 and has been to 3 or 4 shows. As along as the show is all ages, go for it.

Huge fan of live music and have taken my kids to see several shows over the years. Took my daughter to see Morrissey when she was 9 and Dead & Co. when she was 14. Took my son to see KISS when he was 12. Never to young or old to experience a live concert

Yep. The ringing is becoming a much more regular thing and I've started avoiding shows at venues where I can't step outside easily if I need to.

Once you’re older than 30 you’re too old to go to concerts

I bought some musicians earplugs 6 or 7 years ago. They allow you to hear the entire range of frequencies but at a lower volume.

My first was also Frampton in Mobile, except I was 15. It was just as Comes Alive was blowing up nationally.
