So frickin excited about this, little over a week away. Papa M will be cool but I’m absolutely obsessed with Mogwai for two decades now and never have been able to see them. Going to be awesome to finally get to see them and not only that but enjoy it with my son.

I'd say he's not too young if the venue lets him in. Took my son to see Rush a couple of times between 3rd & 5th grade. There were plenty of kids his age range at both concerts. Outdoor shows, so noise was not an issue.
We caught them at an indoor show at Smoothie King a couple of years later and ended up listening to most of it from the concessions area - Geddy's bass was waaay loud & we didn't bring earplugs.

First concert was Lenny Kravitz/Smash Mouth/Buckcherry at 12. The madre was less than enthused about Buckcherry but didn't do anything about it.
I'd say get your kid into concerts as early as possible. Concerts have been a huge part of my life, and I'm sure being empowered to check out music early and go to concerts on my own at 15-16 was a big part of that.
You also hit an age where you're expected as an adult to be more composed and not "rock out" so much. If I had a son, I'd make sure they have time to truly have fun as a young adult and stress that "nothing is guaranteed" in the world of music. Musicians die...alot. Bands break up...alot. etc. Take advantage of everything while it's around.

My first show was Garth Brooks in Memphis mid 90's.... I was 6 or 7 and had a black cowboy hat I wore... had a great time... though the years my parents took me to see Shania/ Eagles/Elton John/Kenny chesney among many others.
Hope y'all have a great time
