was able to rebook our 2 days of skiing to the 27th . Airline, village @ breck, summit shuttle, lift tickets were all able to rebook without any problems. I guess i was fortunate that everyone was so accommodating after not buying trip insurance.

hopefully the 27th will be worry-free

They'll be happy to have you late season anyway.

Bad luck you scheduled on the day there's a storm as powerful as this in the region. Haven't seen pressures this low in that part of the world in decades.

First time every skiing and me and my fiance had a blast. We took the beginner lesson the first morning and by the end of our second day she was doing well on the harder greens and I was doing well on the easier blues.

Can't wait to go back. We want to go skiing of course but also want to go back to Tahoe during the summer time because we absolutely loved Lake Tahoe. Actually proposed to my gf while I was there.

Glad you enjoyed it. There's a reason I didn't post a review like you asked.... I had a miserable time (mountain-wise). As you said, the week before the gondola was closed. I was there for 2 days of that. Also half of the mountain. We also were lucky to be there during "Bay Area Ski Week" which made the crowds apparently the worst they've ever been from talking to locals. 45-60 minute wait for the gondola the 2 days it was open. 10-30 minute waits for most lifts.

I had to miss a day the first day the gondola shut down. it was probably a 2 hour wait for a shuttle to Cali side. We decided it wasn't worth it because only 3 lifts were open, and 15,000 people to fight with.

Our last day was a Monday, which thinned the crowds a good bit. Also a storm came in so a lot of people got off the hill after 1. The last few hours were perfect and really saved the trip in a lot of ways. Conditions were crazy but a lot of fun to be in. 20 degrees, 50+ mph winds, and 4" of new snow over a few hours while we were riding. Definitely a great memory I'll have for a long time.

I thought the resort was nice, and the lake is beautiful, but I will never be back, probably won't recommend it to anyone either.

Damn that's unfortunate, sounds like the perfect storm of bad situations.

was there two weeks ago. First time skiing so I don't have much to compare it to but the snow was heavenly. Denver was blanketed all weekend.

High pressure system means big lines in the backcountry. Able to check off the West Hourglass on Nez Perce today. Picture was from back at the beginning of February when we got turned away from the line because of thin coverage. A historic month of snow filled it in, and it ski'd all the way through from the top today!

About to book a closing weekend trip to Snowmass. First time skiing for my 3 and 5 year old boys. Can’t wait to dump them at ski school and get out there.

I'll be flying out to Deer Valley on Friday. Hoping these warmers temps aren't turning everything to slush.

Also, just booked my flight to Santiago in July . Looks like we'll be hitting Valle Nevado.

I’m in Bend ORE now. No freshies but have been getting a decent tan in the bluebird slush after a slight mishap involving dodging tree well suffocation, out of bounds riding and an eventual death hike back to the parking lot.

Y’all stay safe.

Scary stuff. Glad you made it out.

I listen to a lot of podcasts about outdoor survival scenarios, especially those involving avalanches or just general backcountry skiing incidents. I think the more you hear about others mishaps, you start seeing the potential for those same things happening to you.

Teton County SAR has one called The Fine Line that has a lot of JHMR sidecountry related incidents.

My #1 goal every day I put on skis is to be able to ski the next day.

We were in Salt Lake at Snowbird Friday and Saturday of last week. They've had near record snowfall totals this year. It snowed 12" while we were in Salt Lake on Weds.

It was my first time skiing and is easily the most frustrating thing I've ever tried besides golf. I could never get off the bunny slopes and could never make those nice slow S turns. Disconnect between my brain and my feet.....

It's still fine... can always find good snow at DV if you're looking.

Yesterday was one of the best days Ive spent in the mountains. We finally got the schedule and weather to go out for the first day of a three day ski mountaineering course with an Exum Guide. My buddy and I were lucky enough to be able to book a two person private class for regular price.

First time rappelling during a ski line. And it was fricking awesome. Cannot wait for more! Our guide wants to take us down a route that him and his wife made a first ski descent on last year. We would be the second descent!
