August waiver trade period is gone

Does this mean you can't trade in August at all, or that you no longer have to clear waivers?

From what I understand there will be no more trading after July 31st

Fine with all but this one. If I want a lefty-lefty matchup in a big time spot in the game I shouldn't have to leave him in to get blasted by the RH right behind him.

I think you might see some pitchers getting ejected from the game in this situation.

That is correct. A player be put on waivers and claimed, just no trade post claim.

Also how in the hell do people have a problem with the limiting September call ups? It is ridiculous to have so many pitching changes. It was fun with the stros sucked and I got to see the young guys, but when your team is in it, it sucks having to watch us play the fricking Baltimore taking so long because of pitching changes that wouldn't be available in the regular season.

Also, I think a two batter pitching limit would work and I would be cool with it. I despise the lefty situations guy though. Not enough to create a rule change, but to support one.

its pretty ridiculous that they are placing rules on general strategy

I disagree because most of those strategies involve unnecessary delays.

That 3 batter rule sucks.

Manfred needs to get the hell out of MLB. He sucks. I never thought I would actually wish for Bud Selig to come back and be the commish.

3 batter minimum for pitchers or to the end of a half inning or injury
Thank God. Anyone that was ever ok with this is stupid. It does nothing but make the game last longer.

You “but muh strategeries” guys need to get a grip. Yea there’s a lot of strategy in keeping a pitcher for one out every 2 games or so.

If that’s strategy then frick strategy. If you can’t pitch to both right and left handed batters then you’re a bad pitcher who should have no place in the league.

I don’t think the 3 batter rule is the best way to kill it but regardless the LOOGY needs to die

Part of the 40 man roster going away and the three batter rule is to speed up the game, but part of it is also to reduce all the strikeouts. K’s have spiked in the last 5-6 years due to saber metrics and the ability to carry so many pitchers and use them correctly in the second half of games.
For a long time up to 2010, teams each averaged about 1000-1150 k’s a season. It was almost 1400 per team last year.

It’s not just about speeding up the game.

In addition to what others have mentioned 3 batter minimum is going to eliminate the funky sidearm submarine throwers. I hate the rule
