There’s going to be so much grey area with guys who will claim to be two way players or with players faking injury to change pitchers. Just making the whole thing even more complicated and putting more jdufemental decdisons on the umpires

Can Rob Manfred quit trying to reinvent the game

Dude, the 10 day rule was implemented for the first time last year.

They have to have minimum innings or AB's in a game thats not a blowout.

legitimate concern but im sure they can regulate it.

one is a rule that has been in place since the start of the sport, the other is a rule they just hobbled together now because they are freaking out over how long games are

We've had major changes in the game through its history. Lowering of the mound, DH, changing the ball.

Don't be such a typical gumpy old man.

They should just cut the games down to 6 innings. You’d be in and out in about 2 hours

No NL DH for 2020?

Doesn't matter WHEN it was implemented, its a rule that limits a team's ability to get players out.

I actually consider myself a purist but I'm ok with the three-batter minimum. I'd be ok with a two-batter minimum also just to add a bit more strategy into the equation.

They want to shorten the game then want rules like that implemented. So many contradictory changes

Like someone mentioned, football games are longer. It's about minimizing non-core baseball time.

Frankly watching a pitcher struggle to hit a 91 mph fastball down the pipe is as bad as a pitching timeout. You would replace shitty action with better action.

I could see this as a compromise depending on how it shakes out with the 3-out min

I actually like this idea. I actually think the LvsL or RvsR is the most overused stat in baseball. Obviously there are exceptions, but for the most part the left handed hitters grew up facing left handed pitching. They didn't get platooned in high school or college.

Plus there is nothing worse than late in a ball game pulling a pitcher to put in another pitcher to only face 1 batter then bringing in a third pitcher.

The only thing worse is the last 1:30 of a basketball game when a bunch of timeouts are called that become even longer for TV commercials.

Only thing I don’t like is the batter minimum for pitchers. Everything else I’m good with or pretty neutral toward

Each college FB team only plays 12 regular season games. With the vast majority on the same day each week. Pros go 16 games. No one really cares that they last 3+ hours because you only see your team once a week. MLB teams have 1-2 days off per week.

Wouldn't it be better for "strategy" if you could bring in a pitcher to face 1 guy, then bring the starter back in?

You can already do this, but you'll have to sacrifice an outfielder.

Stupid.

If they did this for the first six innings i’d be okay with it. But not allowing it for the end of the game is asinine, imo.
