Just finished it. Great show.
What are some more CIA, marine action type thrillers like that?
I’ve seen:
Homeland
Jack Ryan
The Recruit
Pine Gap
Terminal List
Without Remorse
Bosch
Bodyguard

Prime:
The cop character Titus Welliver plays on Bosch is an ex-special forces guy.

Patriot is about a reluctant spy, and his missions.

HBO:
Pennyworth is about Alfred Pennyworth, before he becomes Batman's butler. He was British special forces, and he works with British spys and the CIA on the show.

Barry is about an American assassin/spy, who doesn't enjoy his job.

I just wish we'd get more Tom Clancy accurate shows.

The Recruit
This was a fun show, but do NOT expect it to be like Reacher. The protagonist is the ANTITHESIS of Jack Reacher.

He is a fish out of water and is struggling his way through circumstances for which he was NOT trained.

This is a joke right? I stuck through and hate watched many shows because I (almost) always have to finish shows I start.

I didn't make it half way through Reacher. One of the stupidest things on TV.

This makes zero sense as a concept

1) Guys like that dont become butlers
2) Alfreds father was also Waynes butler, so Alfred was trained as a butler since birth
3) Where the eff was he the night Batmans parents got killed? A special forces guy would certainly have been helpful. He would have been between 35-40 at the time

In the comics, he was indeed the son of an earlier Wayne household servant, but he was also a veteran espionage agent for the British government. He took the job at Wayne Manor because he had promised his father that he would do so. As I recall, he originally did not even show-up at Gotham until Bruce was an adult. But that has since been retconned many times.

The comic backstory is not the same as the series, but it is not entirely inconsistent either. Treat the series as a standalone, and enjoy it for what it is. It is fairly entertaining, and the actor is pretty good..

One of the many characters who constantly switches back-and-forth between “good“ and “evil“ is played by the hot redheaded terrorist from Patriot Games. (WARNING, she did not age well).

I enjoyed it, but go in knowing that it was produced in Britain for a British audience.

Constant use of British terminology, slang and acronyms, with no explanation whatsoever. A variety of different British accents, all spoken so quickly that you cannot understand much of what is said without the subtitles.
