honestly this make me much happier about not getting Riley. Reminds me of that QB who swapped to ND at the last second because he was scared of competition and amounted to nothing.
Riley is scared of the SEC and doesn't think he can get it done. Someone like that wouldn't do well here.

I can't imagine any universe where I'd choose USC over LSU if I were in Riley's shoes, that program is where coaches go to die and tank their careers.
And then to ALSO choose USC over simply staying at OU?! Both options are better than going to SoCal, unless he simply didn't want the SEC competition and expectations or Woodward's offer was pure shite.
I'm going with the 'not wanting SEC pressure' as the reason for him making this move, that's the only way it makes any sense. And if that's the case, then LSU didn't truly want someone like that anyway

It just says they're targeting LR. It says nothing about him choosing USC. If that's indeed the case, USC potentially masterfully used the LSU opening as a smokescreen while negotiating with the same guy... BRILLIANT. I hate USC, but that would be brilliant.

If the money is the same USC is a better job. Talent pool is the same within 300 miles of campus and Los Angeles is less obsessed with college football and he can get a younger stripper wife without folks giving a shite. Pac 12 is an easier conference as well.

LOL. John McKay, John Robinson, and Pete Carroll did fine after leaving USC.

This needs to be a snap to reality for a lot of people. LSU is absolutely nothing special for a head coach. Period.
